The streak FINALLY ends. Crazy to think the last time we saw UK win an SEC game it was with Matt Roark under center.

Box Score

Some notes as always:

- That defense. Oh my. Our front seven was just straight up nasty today. Limited Vandy to just 8 first downs all day (UK had 23 in comparison) and 2 of 12 on 3rd down. Finished the game with 4 sacks. And props to the squad as a whole with 3 INTs today. While we had already eclipsed the mark this season, we had more INTs today then we had all last season I believe.

- UK's defense also extended the streak of no offensive TDs in the first half this season. I have no problem arguing that Kentucky may have the best defense in the East right. Or at the very least one of the best lines.

- For the most part the offense moved the ball but had some huge hiccups at crucial moments. Unfortunately the fair share of those came at the hands of Patrick Towles. He seemed a bit jittery after that pick six. I know it's likely just young guy jitters but in this conference you have to shake it off quick or you'll find yourself in some trouble. It's my one legitimate concern going into next week.

- I want to cry thinking about how many guys Towles left open because he didn't go through his progressions. Like I said, have to remind myself he's just a sophomore starting out there. But man, he could've really put some points on the board today.

- Special teams played probably the most complete game they had all season until Robinson fumbled that return. Pretty frustrating.

- Stanley "Boom" Williams had an 122 yard all-purpose game today. Kid really shined today with some big plays.

All in all, the score wasn't really indicative of the control Kentucky had all game. It was a good win and a conference win at that. There's definitely some potential to get South Carolina next week. But they're going to have to clean some things up to do so.

Belle, was waiting for you to post your review. Defense continues to look strong. I know they are thin, but man, pitching a shutout to a team that scored 35 last week is a great confidence booster.

The offense struggled in the 2nd half particularly, and Towles made some poor throws, and missed some throws, but they did enough to win the game. Another week of practice and looking at the film of what he missed will help.

South Carolina struggling to score right now against Missouri, if we can contain Mike Davis, I think UK has a good shot at home against USCjr.
I remember the last time we beat them, and I also remember the 54-3 game where Joker was just smiling and cutting up with Spurrier while handshaking after the game. That stuck with me.

USC has a good offense and a good D, so it will be a good test for UK. Being a home game, I'm sure the crowd will help. I'm expecting a close game. Can UK win, yes, but I don't expect them to.

I got sidetracked a bit afterward. FWIW, if you don't see it up always feel free to start one of your own.

Agreed. I still stick by my 4 win expectation this season. I worry that USCe and Thompson will expose our secondary. I do fully expect it to be a very competitive game. We may not be there yet to get another SEC win, but we're not going to be an easy out for anybody.

Based upon what I have seen, I might up my original prediction of 4 wins to 5. Louisville is still looking average, and most of the SEC east is kind of meh, even LSU doesn't look great at all.

With USC losing, will be interesting to see how they prepare for UK. I still go with what we saw in the Florida game, our starters will be very tired by the 4th quarter, and we will likely fade and lose a fairly close game.

I wish I'd gotten to see this game but they keep scheduling our games at the same time. Very happy Kentucky came away with the win.

As for USC... USCe is the most Jekyll and Hyde team I've watched all year.

I'd probably feel more comfortable had they beaten Mizzou. It'll be hard to catch them not paying attention coming off a loss.

Yeah, I really didn't want them coming in off a loss. Might cause Sourrier to "up his game" this week to try to right the ship.

But as I said, I am hoping UK, who is coming off only one good half on offense, feels that it has something to prove as well.
