The world was at war. The Army was fighting its way north towards Rome, and the Marines were island hopping in the Pacific. Operation Overlord was still in the planning stages. It was also the last time Texas A&M won more than two games in a row against Arkansas. This brief history lesson was brought to you by tFlagship. 41-26

WWII era, irrelevant due to football teams actually fighting in the war.

In 1943 Bama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt didn't field teams because of the war...technically, Vanderbilt and Tulane fielded teams for half of the season...

So what does that have to do with the 70 years since the war, since that's what this thread is about?

Ahhh ... the 1943 Texas Aggies football team.
The Kiddie Korps.
Studs.
quote:

Early in the summer of 1943, after 77 members of Homer Nortons football team went off to war, the Aggie coach was left with four players. His remedy was an all-purpose recruiting pitch. Are there eleven men in the student body, he asked, who can play football? Sportswriters called A&M a glorified high school football team, a slight exaggeration. Some didnt even play in high school. The Kiddie Korps, as sportswriters subsequently dubbed the Aggies, kept right on winning.

Very good bull.
Thanks for the thread.
Seriously.

Only if you aren't counting Arkansas as a state.
