Per Pat Forde on the Tony Kornhieser Show.

Kind of makes sense.

Don't see it happening, but would be hilarious if it did. I've got a really good friend who is an Ohio State fan. He would melt so bad.

Does Sumlin want to coach in the NFL? I am assuming most college coaches want to give it a try if they are given the shot.

If he keeps having success I'm sure he will at some point. He has a massive buyout he would have to pay in his contract if he leaves before 2017 so I think he's probably ours until then and leaves if he keeps winning.

Nail meet head.

I bet Harbaugh's dream job is Michigan, but like most great coaches he wants to prove he can win on the most competitive stage, the NFL.

I think it is known in the NFL, the teams are interested in Sumlin. He is a hot coach right now.

Harbaugh is wanting out of Frisco. Hoake is dead man walking.

Interesting that it was mentioned on Tony's show.

All of the Harbaugh vs Baalke issues in SF are way overblown. It's just both sides and their agents trying to gain leverage in the negotiation.

I don't understand why anyone would think Harbaugh would leave the NFL to comeback down to college. He loves the Niners and has a great thing going down there. New stadium, great team, great GM, and its in a pretty damn good place in San Francisco.

Harbaugh is apparently a huge douche and will never stay anywhere longer than 5 years because he pushes all the wrong buttons with people. That being said, he's won in the NFL and will continue to do so. He will always have offers from other teams if he's available.

Also, NO coach wants to go back to college.

If Sumlim is going anywhere in the Bay Area its to Oakland with Derek Carr. Highly doubt any coach will want to go there though.

They discussed that as Tony said, Harbaugh is "nuts" and he just wears on people to the point they want him gone. Forde said Michigan has to "smooth and mend" relationship with Harbaugh.

That is the real problem with this pipe dream. They really pissed him off last time.

quote:

We didn't get the coach who should have been our coach here [viz. Jim Harbaugh, in 2011] because we insulted him in the first place. So then look who we get. It's nothing personal; Brady's a nice guy, I'm sure all you guys agree. I'll agree to that. Really nice guy, very personable guy. However, his pedigree did not deserve to be a $4-million coach here at Michigan ... It's disheartening when you see the level of coaching [the players are] getting. They supposedly have talent but ... is that transferring over on [Saturdays]? That boils down to coaching.
