This is unfortunate. I like CBS, but they're going all in on NFL. I imagine espn will try to buy out cbs' s current contract, since they own everything else that is SEC. I wish NBC would make a play. I like the games on network television and NBC is first class.

And only then will people realize how iconic Gary and Verne have been

The quality of CBS footage is fantastic.. however I will not miss the endless commercials.

Timeout commercial
Team scores after time out commercial
Kick off after score commercial
Player down for 2 seconds because he got the wind knocked out of him commercial

Pouring one out for Verne as we speak.

Just glancing through it, it seems more like a speculative article than it does anything else.

Update: after this article was published a CBS spokesperson sent the following email to Outkick: “The SEC is a cornerstone of our fall programming schedule. We will be broadcasting the SEC Game of the Week for the next 10 seasons and we have every intention of renewing these rights when they expire after the 2023 season.”

The CBS contract is shite. It's way undervalued, and I don't particularly like the "top games" being played during the day anyway.

If this were to happen, Id think it would be a good thing as long as Fox doesn't get ahold of the rights.

No, it's definitely going to end, whether next year if someone buys it out or when the contract ends in 2023. No way the SEC will extend with CBS after what they did (or didn't do).

The SEC's next T1 deal, whenever it's done, will be with ABC/ESPN. It's all but a foregone conclusion.

CBS was a good exposure window but now there is the SEC Network.

CBS picture, game feel, and Verne > ESPN and everyone else. It isnt college football without that big dumbass. He may get names wrong and not know shite, but his voice and energy is second to no one. Gary... Well he brings some insight at times, but he is 2nd fiddle to many. They still make a solid team and CBS period is my favorite.

Verne makes the game fun. Plus his drinking game is better than Brent's.

That will bring Notre Dame to the SEC.

Throw in another, such as a Texas, and we're set for a 16 team league.

I'll never understand why people think Gary Danielson is a good commentator. He's almost worse than Verne, which is saying a lot.
