Why did Malzahn not re-hire Jeff Grimes?

Just curious.

Looking at his career as OL coach it appears that his only down year was was the year Chizik was fired from Auburn.

Was it a philosophy difference with Malzahn? Or, did Malzahn simply want a clean slate?

From what I understood he wanted the clean slate.

Did you see how MSU handled LSU's line? That's why. He's a solid recruiter but that's it.

Wanted a clean slate and Grimes wasn't that good of a coach.

Our new OLine coach who is also named Grimes seems to be an upgrade

He just wanted a clean break from Chizik's coaching staff. The 3-9 record during Chizik's last year was due to dysfunction between the coaches and players

I read his bio...he appears to have a very solid record of putting offensive linemen in the league and the teams he coached ranked high in rushing yards.

So his record as a coach doesn't match, "He's a solid recruiter but that's it."

If you recruit the right playas you get themt to the league. A good coach though can coach up the avg ath. Also by good coach it means the awareness of a system and understanding of Xs and Os.

Maybe not in the passing game, but at least with stud we opened up big holes in the run game. We didn't see that saturday.

It wasn't a big mystery what MSU was doing. LSU just couldn't handle #91. That dude is a first round top 5 draft pick.

Is this serious? You shouldn't have to look too hard for a reason.

CGM wanted to flush the toilet and bring in all new hires. Grimes has a track record but I think it was more about getting a new start with a whole new "family".
