AUBURN, Ala. -- In a league full of offense, an Auburn defender stood tall.

Sophomore Josh Holsey was named the Southeastern Conference defensive player of the week Monday following his career-high 11-tackle performance that helped Auburn beat Kansas State 20-14 last Thursday. Holsey had to play the ol' switcheroo, too, moving back from cornerback to safety after Jermaine Whitehead was suspended two days before the game.

Auburn held the Wildcats to 40 yards rushing, a modest 285 yards overall, in the Top 25 showdown.

Auburn defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson praised Holsey on Sunday.

"I thought he did a good, solid job," Johnson said. "It was a tough move for him, it was done during the week and didn't have but one-half of a practice and another small light practice. And he did pretty well."
