I'm going with false for now because of what McElwain did in 2009 and 2011.

However, Lane has had a more explosive offense. If he can continue this offensive barrage over the course of the season he will jump to the top in my opinion.

Thoughts?

I think its way too early to determine.

But, if we keep on piling up the yards and points all season, then yeah he will definitely be in the conversation.

What Homer Smith did with Gary Hollingsworth in '89 was amazing.

For this being his first year, and considering we have roughly the same skill players minus the QB...it has far exceeded what I thought he could do with our offense.

You can gauge Lane's success by the disappearance of the threads bashing Lane, or Saban for hiring him.

It's been 4 games. 1 against an SEC defense. Pump the brakes.

My statement still stands. I don't even understand how this can be a question. A lot of ridiculous things get discussed on this board but one asking if he could be our greatest OC after 4 games is just baffling unless you're screwing around in hopes someone already declares him the best

He's on pace to lead the greatest Alabama offense in history. You think it's going to slow down with the defenses we have left to face?

Cooper could realistically put up 1,600 yards receiving. We may have two 1,000 yard rushers. Sims will have over 3,000 yards passing. Coker may hit 1,000.

What offense have we ever had that can compete with that?

I agree with you - false.

It's four games.

The reason we have Obama in office is because this generation believed his initial hype.

Probably need to let Lane do a lot more.

We've had Homer Smith and Howard Schnellenberger. Heck, Jim McElwain led John Parker Wilson through the SEC regular season undefeated and #1.

Homer smith gets my vote. If Stallings would have left him alone, during that stint here, no telling how good the team would have done.

I think Charlie Stubbs could have been in the conversation if Mike Dubose didn't suck.

I'll say this, I have never been more confident 3rd and long as I have been so far this year. Only one other coach and team have I ever thought this way about and that was Spurrier during his haydays at UF. 3rd and 16 was the same as 3rd and one for the rest of us.

Hell, we've punted like five times right?

Not ready to give Lane the title after four games. We will know much more in the next month on just how good his offense is. Right now I like what I see but let's get to some better defenses and see what happens... looking at you Ole Miss.

False

Homer Smith...

But given time, Kiffin could be the best.
