The Arky-A&M series was set there before A&M came into the SEC

$$$ and exposure.

Jerry wanted the game and was willing to pay for it. (Remember where he played ball and ... presumably ... attended college.)

You must recall that the contract was signed before any serious talk of TAMU joining the SEC, and Arkansas was not exactly the King of the Hill in the SEC. With Jerry's involvement, you could be sure of national exposure on at least one weekend of the season. Seemed advantageous to both programs, I am sure.

Now, we are stuck with the contract we signed, whether we like the trip or not.

I doubt that the game will remain in DFW after the contractual obligations are met.

More detail here.

A&M and Arkansas was one of the first contracts with Jerry World that started back in 2009 I think.

The contract was supposed to last a decade but since A&M ended up in the SEC with the hogs, we took 2 years off to play the games home and home. Anyways, now we've renewed the deal (not sure we had much choice because of the original contract) and will be restarting the decade series at Jerry World.

TL;DR = We did it first, but now it's lame.. and we're stuck with it.

Recruiting.

Not a fan at all of playing big OOC games at neutral sites.

Why not have home and homes? Why should the teams lose a home game?

also....

They had started doing that game annually before A&M came over. In this instance I think it's mutual for both fanbases as the game is right between the 2 schools. I actually like a neutral site for this game.

Horrible venue for college games. Wish it were home and home again. But I think we had to agree to it to get the LSU game on thanksgiving.

I wouldn't expect you to understand. We have nice things in Texas outside of two college football stadiums.

was commenting on the rise of big neutral site games in general, which I think the OP was talking about as well.

All I know is that Malik Jefferson is our visitor to the game so I love it. Recruits have to find rides, and getting to Jerry World is easy. It's also great association... Play for us and you can play here Saturday and Sunday. And if A&M aint playing the piglets there, someone is. I'd rather us get the exposure than anyone else.

I don't think it's lame at all. Rivalry games @ neutral locations are awesome.

Its the same thing Jerry does with the hookers he wants to kiss...er..his parts... -- pay them enough money and they will do anything he wants. Jerry gets his way with the green lube
