Aside from the opening throw to Drake, the toss play to Henry was my favorite play from the game. The Old-Timers here will remember the success we had running that with Bobby Humphrey back in the day.

I hate it. We toss it 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage and expect our linemen to make it outside to block. We don't have an athletic line to consistently make it work.

Our offensive line holds though, so it's all good.

Because it didn't work.

I've always hated that play. Clemson had to get 4 inches in overtime and tried that shite. You make your RB get 7 yards instead of 2 with a traditional hand off. How is that smart?

Clemson should have gone with the QB sneak rather than a hand off anyway.

Derrick Henry scored a touchdown on a toss sweep yesterday afternoon.

And we tried it with Yeldon and lost yards.

Twice.

Still scored a TD with it so it's not entirely useless. Your premise is flawed.

No it's not. If you need to get 1-2 yards why would you toss it back 5 more yards?

You allow the defense more time to get off blocks and they have a better chance of stopping the play.

It's not like our other running plays were working, though.

If the play is run properly that will not happen. There's a reason why coaches still use it to this day. It works.

It worked for us because Henry was able to break 3 tackles. The odds of that happening again are minimal.

Apparently you don't pay attention to Henry when he has the ball. Breaking tackles is kind of his MO.

Seems like a good play for DH since he takes a couple steps to build a head of steam. He is such a freight train once he gets going though. I might start calling him Sea Biscuit...not to his face though.

Pretty sure he ran through one arm tackle and kind of banged into someone as he crossed the plane. He didn't break 3 tackles.

It's intended to be a change of pace. I don't expect it to be a staple for short yardage.

I just hate the fact we cannot run he ball between the tackles consistently. Outside runs will not work as well against defenses with superior speed like Florida,LSU and Auburn
