First, that was a great win. You guys can rightfully feel the way you did in the late 90s.

My question: do you Mullen will be leaving soon? I ask because it seems like the Florida job will be open at the end of the year and that Mullen can make a strong argument for the position. He'll at least get an interview.

If this does happen, who would be your new coach? I know Hudspeth's name gets mentioned alot. He's from Louisville and was Mullen's receiver's coach.

Lots of 'ifs' and 'coulds' here, I know. Thank you grinders.

Did you think Freeze would leave after you all beat LSU? There's your answer.

I hate to tell all of the people that think mullen will be leaving, but he's not.

States already paying him almost 3 mil a season and he's pretty much built everything exactly like he wants it.

He could've left multiple times, and if he does decide to look how well and deep he left our program and roster.

Muschamp still has a long season and could still have a successful season there's no guarantee he's going to be gone. Even if he is gone I doubt he leaves for Florida.

Meh..apples to oranges. Furthermore, coaching is a business. If Freeze were offered a higher paying job with a bigger program, I'd suspect he'd take it. If Florida did so to Mullen, I'd bet an inch of my penis that he'd take it.

Really? I like to think I keep up with this, but I suppose my researching/basic observational skills have dulled.

How many coaches get fired for losing to Alabama?

There are a lot of games to be played. In the SEC West this year, there are no gimmes. We could win a lot of West games or lose a lot of West games with the remaining schedule.

Only if we do well will leaving be a consideration. If we do really well and teams come calling, we do have an SEC war chest of funds available to play defense.

I'm more concerned with keeping Collins at this point.

Id be fine with promoting Geoff Collins to HC if Mullen left as long as he gets the proper OC to call plays

True. I don't really feel good about the a&m game. I will definitely be watching to see how Arkansas fares against them.

I don't think he will. He is building something special here at State and can make his own legacy rather than try to compete with that of Urban Meyer and Spurrier at somewhere like Florida.

It takes a long time to build a good program at State. It took Sherrill 6-7 years before we could compete for the West. Mullen is getting us there...yesterdays win was a huge step for this program.

Unless Florida straight up offers him the job I don't think he's going anywhere.

From what I can tell, teams that can pass the ball will give you some trouble. I think you guys lose to A&M but I also think you guys beat the shite out of Auburn because they rely on the run so much.

First, one big win does not automatically put you at the top of everyone's got to have list. Personally, I don't see him leaving this year. As to Florida specifically though, it is my understanding that was not well liked down there. Not sure how Foley feels about him but I don't see him going to Florida even if there was an opening. I think I recall Megan even saying they would never go back to Gainesville. Never is a really long time though.

Thanks to all who replied in this thread- if I were Mullen, I'd probably stay in Starkville. I dislike his persona but I've come to admire his position. He has a prestigious job with - no offense - comparably low standards, yet still pays him millions. I think he'd be foolish to leave.
