I wasn't sure if Richt was asked about it in the press conference.

No point risking him when you really really don't need him.

Did you watch the game?

He's by far our best player and the game was in hand, and getting Gurley hurt against Troy would be disastrous. We sat him because we didn't need him. We'll probably sit him in the 2nd half against vandy too, and CSU.

He's not going to win the Heisman against Troy. If he's going to do it, it will be done against auburn, Florida, mizzou, and possible seccg.

This.

We still beat Troy 66-0. No need to risk injury.

that doesnt' even make sense. If richt didnt' want to mess up gurley's heisman, he would've played him 3 quarters and let him get 200 yards.

Gurley's stats wouldn't make a difference in this game because of the overall score.

As long as he keeps playing his best in the big ones (SEC play), he'll remain in the discussion.

They shouldn't, but voters are dumb.

Gurley's ypc was what, like 13? That's insane. But I guarantee you if he ran for 190 yards instead of 70 people would be talking more.

Gordon for Wisconsin ran for over 200 against some tomato can and I just lsitened to some talking heads say he's better than gurley because of it.

Point is - Mark Richt is stratigically playing for the Heisman

Gordon had 38 yards (2.2 ypc) against Western Illinois, but I'm sure the talking heads will ignore that detail.

Richt said game was already out of hand and no need to keep giving it to Gurley

Yep, and the others. I don't have a problem with them sitting him.

It looked, at least to me, that he came up a bit gimpy on his last run. Hope I'm wrong but it looked like he tweaked a muscle or something.

Per Richt on sitting Gurley:
quote:

“The game was getting out of hand,” Richt said. “There’s no point in continuing to give him the ball, I didn’t think. He did a good job while he was in there and I’m glad, but we’ve got some other backs that are very capable and I just didn’t see any points of keeping him in there.”
