The commissioner did say he was wrong and owned up to his mistakes as well as explaining the ideas and plans of action they are going to take to restructure their policies against domestic violence and sexual assault, but he managed to deflect almost every question.

He kept telling people "remember what I said in my statement". He was very unrevealing and defensive to questions that were fair and well-warranted.

All in all I feel like this press conference was a joke and the NFL has their tail between their legs.

What say you guys?

people are dumb...Roger Goodell could have gotten up there a delivered MLK's Dream speech and people would still be saying sucked. Why is it his fault that Ray Rice beat his wife and AP beat his child?

He admitted he made a mistake with the suspension even before the video was out. what was he supposed to say today? Why are people blaming this dude? I dont get it.

Agreed... Goodell doesn't run the show, he just sells the tickets. He's the owners mouthpiece & will prolly end up being their sacrificial lamb...

Condoleezza Rice for NFL Commissioner??

People don't want law abiding celebrities. Fans celebrate notoriety, whether it's a movie star, rock musician, athlete, even politician if it's our guy. We want to see Adrian run, doesn't matter if he beat his kid, punched his wife and kicked his dog. Same thing in amateur athletics, everybody likes it when Georgia kicks another star player off the team, but if their player gets in trouble the boards light up with rationalization for bad behavior.

I'm not saying this is a good thing; it's a sign of decay, among many others. But Roger Goodell is just giving people what they want; that's his job. If he goes, whoever replaces him will do the same.

That would be repugnant and also hilarious........

Kick one figure-head politician out for covering up for players beating their wives...........and replace with a different figure-head politician that helped lie and dupe the public into supporting illegal and immoral wars that have killed hundreds of thousands of people and cost us Trillions.....

I mean, that would just about sum up the stupidity of all this feigned outrage over the bread and circuses perfectly.

Name one person who has ever said this.

multiple on ESPN hve implied it, I'm not going to waste my time trying to find it.

quote:

1) The mistake he has admitted to.

Ok, people make mistakes....he owned up to it before the video even got released

quote:

2) For either lying about nobody in the NFL having seen the tape OR not knowing that his office received it.

Those aren't the only two options.

quote:

3) For not asking the casino for a copy oof the tape.

so now the NFL Commissioner has to be a fricking private investigator for every legal case a player gets into? Sounds like a shitty HBO show.

quote:

4) Public perception that he has lost all credibility as a leader.

there is no denying that, but that was my point.....the public is stupid for believing this is Roger Goodell's fault...I know that doesn't matter, which is why if I was Roger I would say frick yall, I'm taking my 44 million and going home.

THE BIG FIGHT

NOW vs. NFL

The bell rings for round one.

NOW backs the NFL into a corner then kicks the NFL in the balls.

The NFL goes down for the count.

Fight's over.

Do you believe he is being punished because Ray Rice beat his wife? If so, why is he not being punished for AP being charged with a felony in TX for child abuse or for the way the Dwyer case is being handled.

he's getting punished for all of that because the public always has to blame someone, and want someone fired. His only mistake was the Ray Rice suspension, and he owned up to that. The video of Ray Rice was the real turning point. If there was no video of Rice hitting his gf no one would have batted when he got suspended for two games.
