UF had just fini9shed serious sanctions never before leveled before or since then by NCAA,,,made sure Bobby Diddy Bowden could recruit the fertile state of Florida...we had no tv and serious reductions in schollys. Emmitt was a battle between us and AU and I remember the recruiting battle was intense...Thank God he chose us. A footnote to the epic upset of Bama (and we thumped them good) is that UF had played Univ of NJ@ Coral Gables just before this game and we were throttled something like 31-2 or some such...but Emmitt was true frosh and didn't get into that game but a few times.
