How did KSU stop Auburn's run game? I'm assuming they sold out without deep coverage and loaded the box.
Am I wrong? I didn't watch the game.

Snyder and Chavis go way back

You aren't. They sold out to stop the run and dared AU to beat them with the passing game, which was just successful enough for AU to sneak away with the W.

Used their db's off of the edge a lot to confuse Marshall's reads, db's tackled well and they played harder than our o line.

They stole our signals.

I doubt Snyder has the vision to see across the field these days

Were they stopping the dink and dunk or did Auburn not try to do control passing? I'm not that familiar with the Au passing game.

It's Bill Snyder. If there's an offensive style, he can find a way to stop it to some degree. He's a wizard

It was mostly this.

we went down field a lot...some poor passes and even more drops. Reel those in and i expect the running game would have been a lot more successful. They challenged marshall to beat them...he did just enough to do that.

Williams had a really bad game by his standards. LSU won't be that lucky in a few weeks, though I don't see Williams being as open as he was for most of that game

They did not stack the box. Their dline just flat out played harder. They rushed four and were still get significant pressure on Marshall.

That really surprises me.
I would have guessed they went with short ( < 8 yard) passes. No doubt that opening the field would have made the run game more successful. Unfortunately until Marshal shows he can do more with that pass game I'd expect everyone to run that sold-out defense now.

he certainly gets some of the blame, but i think it's horribly unfair to put it all on him (not that you're doing that, just clarifying since drops are/were a problem)

Stacked the box and crashed DB's off the edge. When we kept dropping wide open passes, they didn't have to stop doing it.

drops
This was a big one for both teams. It was like there was a stiff dew last night.

They batted down several quick slants and then our receivers dropped 4 (maybe 5) easy catches.

Batted down/nick threw them at the fricking opponents' helmets at the line

Auburn hasn't ran the same plays as last year. The game was about like State last year where it was the 1st road game and struggled running and won passing. And we seen how that helped everyone shutdown Auburn last year.
