Is this guy a walk on? Carlson has done a pretty good job punting so far, why would Gus put this kid in for his first play on the road like that? Now he made a incredible recovery but that seemed risky...

I will need an answer when I come in from that lake at lunch.

AFAIK he's our rugby style punter that the coaches have mentioned. I figure that Gus just wanted to throw their special teams D off.

I'd like to see him get a couple shots against LaTech if we have to punt.

He did great...the snap was two yards to his right.

Agreed, it looked like a bad snap and he did great to recover and get the kick off.

He is a walk-on from Australia... Carlson is too valuable to do ALL our kicking, all season.

Matt should have kicked LAST week if you are going to use him on the road.

He was pretty awesome getting that off after a pretty bad snap.

Carlson's hangtime was pretty bad and it allowwed Lockett to get 30 yard returns all game.

Blocks in the back and a blatant tackle allowed a lot of that.

We need someone punting that can get some hangtime on their punts. A lot of Carlson's punts will be returned for some yardage this year.

ETA: Agree w/ Gene. Just read his post.

That allowed the punt returns to go from 10 yards to 30 yard returns but all of his punts were returnable. THat is a problem

I think that was more due to the wind. Before the KSU game he was looking like Clark (w/o the ability to put it on the one every time).

During warmups he consistently puts a ton of air under the ball

if he's our rugby style punter as was mentioned in this thread, then he was put in because of the 8 mph wind in that stadium.

Blame Hutchinson. Carlsen didn't come here to punt.

Yes he's a walk on and he's our Aussie kicker who was brought in on that punt to do the Aussie/rugby style punt.

That punt, regardless of the situation, was pretty damn awesome
