Here are the statistical match-ups currently. The number listed after is their rank in each category. Obviously there has been a limited sample for UF because of them having only played two games.

Then I threw in my commentary. That and $5 can get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks My predictions are probably far off base, but why not generate some discussion before our first SEC game? Add in your predictions as well.

UF passing offense: 345.5 YPG #12
Bama passing defense: 220 YPG #54

Thoughts: I had no idea that UF's passing game was that successful. Our pass defense is pretty suspect. If Eddie isn't healthy, I dont think we will have an answer to Robinson. It certainly isn't Cyrus, as I doubt he could make a play on the ball if my grandmother were out there running the route. Tony Brown could match up with him physically, but I wonder if he will know enough of the playbook to be successful. Driskel passes for 280 yards.

UF rushing offense: 248.0 YPG #24
Bama rushing defense: 47.1YPG #1

Their RBs are studs. That being said, I don't see this as being much of a problem for us unless they use some read option to set up the run. UF runs 110 yards.

UF scoring offense: 50.5 PPG #7
Bama scoring defense: 11.7 PPG #10

50.5 PPG is a lot. I know we are talking about UK and the sisters of the poor, but we haven't exactly been playing the '85 bears either. We're obviously (hopefully ) holding them to under 50.5 PPG. I think they score around 20 with their offense.

UF total offense rank: 593.5 ypg #6
Bama total defense: 267.0 ypg #10

I think we hold UF to around 390 yards of offense. A lot of those yards will be between the 20s of course. The real question is how we'll perform in the red zone if the other team doesn't shoot themselves in the foot a la WVU. I think we hold them to two touchdowns and two field goals. I also think they attempt 3-4 field goals, but miss a couple.

Bama passing offense: 298 YPG #33
UF passing defense: 207 YPG #40

This one is one of the big matchups IMO and it goes beyond Coop. If UF double covers Coop, who will Blake target? Jones? White? Howard? Vogler? How successful will those targets be? UF will aim to shut down the short to intermediate passes, and a true deep ball from Sims remains somewhat of a mystery. I think Sims throws for about 190 yds 1 TD 2 INT.

Bama rushing offense: 270.3 YPG #18
UF rushing defense: 80.5 YPG #12

I don't think we've done a great job of running between the tackles, and it seems that UF has good sideline to sideline speed to limit the success of the outside runs. I'm wondering if we will see some read option and draw plays to open up the run game a bit. I think Bama will get around 185 yards rushing between all of our backs.

Bama scoring offense: 42 PPG #26
UF scoring defense: 15 PPG #16

I don't think our offense scores 42 in this game. I think our offense scores around 24 points at the most unless UF turns it over to us in our redzone or our kick/punt return sets us up inside the 30.

Bama total offense: 568.3 YPG #12
UF total defense: 287.5 YPG #15

Bama gets around 375 yards in this game. UF's defense will be stout, but we will probably break a TD late.

Halftime score: 14-10 UF
Final score: 24-20 Bama

Yeah, I changed my prediction.

Great write up. One thing though regarding the offense stats for UF, they have not played a defense worth shite and only 2 games to date. FCS school and Kentucky, so the stats are basically null at indicating future results.

Florida was 5 of 17 on 3rd downs against Kentucky.

75 yards of offense for Florida was in overtime.

Towles had at least 300 yds passing and 3 TDS in regulation.

Score- Alabama 31 Florida 17
