I see it two ways:

Root for Clemson to win: Just me personally but I can't stand this Florida State team and I'm tried of them being #1. I think they're a great team but not the best in the country and this is probably the best chance for them to lose. Clemson beating FSU would also make our resume better when we win #6.

Root for FSU to win: It's Clemson. I've never rooted for them and I'm not sure I'm capable of it. It would also be pretty unbearable to hear them brag about it and see all the media coverage.

I'm leaning toward rooting for FSU and then hoping for them to drop a random game later in the season. I'm conflicted though.

Where do you stand?

Yea, when in doubt just refer to that simple rule.

It should never have been a question in my mind.

Do you really want to hear their fans and Dabo if they win that game?

You're going to hear from Dabo no matter what, he'll say that if that game was played ten times they would win 5 of them, just like last year.....

This is a rarity ... but this is one where we really need Clemson to win.

Couple of reasons.

Why do you think this? Not saying you're wrong, I just don't see what you see.

Is it the hopes that clemson wins out and is really highly ranked when we play them, so a W against them could push us higher in the late season polls?

My thought process on this is clemson's win/loss is irrelevant in this game. There are too many variables still left to play out this season. I don't think clemson is going to beat Boston College and even ga tech, unc or nc state can give them a run for their money this season.

If SC is going to make the playoffs, we're going to have to win the SECCG, there isn't a scenario where we could be a 2 loss team and not play in the SECCG or a 2 loss team (1 of those being the SECCG) and SC still making the playoffs. If we want in, we gotta win.

I'm with you. Too many variables this early in the year for USC to start hoping/pulling for someone ahead of us to lose. The SEC isn't going to get two teams in the playoffs. You'll probably see the B12 Champ, the Pac12 Champ, ACC (if it's FSU), and the SEC Champ. The BIG16 is too weak this year, and Ohio State was its only hope, anyway.

So if USC wants to go, the only scenario is to win the conference. Which is still absolutely possible. Auburn looked very beatable last night, and we know that Ellis Johnson can't stop a competent passing attack.

FsU still travels to NCST - Syracuse - Louisville - Miami. they play N. Dame in Tallahassee too. they could flop in any of those games.

nobody wants to see Hee Haw get another chance to run his mule mouth by beating FSU.

Well, I do agree that we have to win-out and win the SECCG in order to make the playoff.

I also think that if Clemson beats FSU and we turn around and beat Clemson, if someone else doesn't do it during the process of their season ... I think an FSU loss at this point might help put two SEC teams in the playoff.

I'd like to see Clemson ranked #1 when we kick their arse at their place this year. It would absolutely crush them. It would completely humiliate them. A second loss late in the season at home would drop them like a rock ... there would be taterheads jumping off of roofs. Six in a row, knocking them off their perch, dashing their hopes ... that's the kind of feeling in their guts I want to send them off to the ACC championship game with, IF they beat FSU.

Plus I despise FSU and what they have always stood for. Bowden was the biggest hypocrite that ever coached the college game and that entire program was built around that raging fricking hypocrite. But even pre-Bowden, they were a renegade program who cheated their asses off and everyone knew it. They were just one step above Miami when it came to thuggery in the 80s and 90s.

Here's another thing just for the heck of it. I think you're right, someone else is gonna beat them before we get to them ... BC, UNC, NC State, who knows. Maybe Ga Tech, I dunno. So if they beat FSU it is likely to be a short-lived ecstasy for the taterheads - and they are still going to dread the arse kicking they've got coming from us at their place regular season's end.

I dunno why we're giving this too much thought though - unless FSU just completely melts in the first half without that thug QB of theirs, Clemson is not going to win the game down there. And if FSU wins that game without Winston, we're going to have a helluva time turning a couple of prospects our way because that place is going to be quasi crazy and the full-blown red-carpet rolled-out this weekend with a couple of our commits in attendance, among others.

Is it possible to root that both lose at the same time...? but sense that can't happen, go for FSU.
