For the low, low price of $300k

Much needed, IYAM. I still maintain that we should have gone with field turf for this season, but nobody listens to NOAH

agreed, but I would have extended it into 2015. It will be the same issue then too.

My question is why are they not getting it down this coming week? I mean it needs all the time it can get to lay roots

Doesn't sounds like this grass will need that much time. Sounds like you could roll it Friday and play Sat morning. I think what is getting torn up will ultimately be superior with time, but we don't have it.

Field turf isn't a quick fix. It takes at least a month to prep and install. Then you'd just be tearing it up and doing it all over again. It sounds more time consuming and as expensive than the grass we are bringing in.

I don't disagree, but from what I understand, field turf requires an entirely different type of drainage system than grass.

Is that so?

I'll admit this is well outside my area of expertise.

No you are correct. My grand-father-in-law has a company that makes these fields, they actually put in SMU's new field. These types of fields do have a completely different drainage system.

We should have just played all of our home games away from Kyle Field.

Agreed. I thought that from the beginning.

I haven't been back to Kyle in 30 years, but you two are obviously communists and probably terrorist sympathizers. Repent!

There's no way that was going to happen.

Seriously.

Its half a billion. I'm sure we could have afforded a nice retractable roofed stadium. I don't care how nice new Kyle is, because at the end of the day we could have had something a lot nicer.

30 years!?! I hadn't been back for 2 and College Station looked extremely different to me.

That town is constantly changing. When I was in High School, I remember taking a campus tour and all I can remember on the drive was how much CS had a "small town" feel to it.

Highway 6 from Navasota to CS was a nondivided 4 lane road but now its an interstate standard highway.

Texas Avenue looked like the main road you'd find in any other small town. Now it is a very nice divided street with a very clean median (may I add it took them forever to finish that project)

A lot of cattle grazing was present along Holeman Drive and streets in between just west of Wellborn Road. All of that is Apartment complex for the most part now

And these examples are just when I was in High School. A lot more has happened since I left school.

No retractable roof, but we could have something elite.

I kinda like how the new kyle field will look like we riced out the old student section.

I was prepared to be disappointed but I was presently surprised.

In my day it was almost entirely a 2-lane highway from Waco to College Station. 3/4 of the speeding tickets I've had in my long life were on Hwy 6

I know it will look considerably different if/when I get back. The Corps dorms, the Administration building, the Academic building are about all I can count on as points of reference.

When phase 2 happens are they going to put down a work surface again? Grass is nice and all but construction equipment and muddy surfaces dont work well together. Unless they do all the hanging blind from the parking lot side.

IMO This wasn't just a grass issue. When a player drops to his knee into a sink hole this isn't just a sod issue.
