It's obviously the SEC illuminati
The truth is out there: Did Georgia-South Carolina controversy benefit the league?

quote:

Conspiracy theorists loved "The X-Files."

Maybe they should open up "The SEC Files."

If you believe in conspiracy theories, then you believe the SEC will do whatever it takes to further the ingrained perception that it is the strongest conference in the land. So it would behoove the SEC to have as many league teams as possible in contention for the first College Football Playoff.

Well, the SEC gave some fodder to the tinfoil hat crowd during the Georgia-South Carolina game on Saturday in Columbia, South Carolina -- a day filled with rain and lightning, the perfect conditions to construct a conspiracy theory.

quote:

Surely, the SEC would not give its referees marching orders on how to call a game. Regardless of the officiating, Georgia blew multiple chances to win.

But is it just a coincidence that what resulted ended up helping the league?

Steve Spurrier, who creates headlines nearly on a daily basis, remains relevant and prominent.

And the SEC bolstered its rep -- despite two league teams beating up on each other. Take a look at the AP Top 25. Seven SEC teams are ranked in the Top 15. That includes No. 13 Georgia AND No. 14 South Carolina -- which moved a whopping 10 spots up the poll over the previous week.

Imagine that.

Both remain alive for the College Football Playoff.

I'm shocked Mark Schlabach didn't write this.

Or did he?

If it was really a conspiracy, the refs would have likely given the game to Carolina early, and there'd be no doubt in the outcome. ESPN has fallen off the deep-end the past few years.

ESPN loves to stir shite up. They are the National Enquirer of sports journalism.

I don't think officials rigged the games. Don't know of any Georgia fans that believe they rigged the game. Officials miss calls all the time. Doesn't mean they rigged the games, and just because somebody points out an official missed a call doesn't mean they think an official rigged the game.

You guys can't seem to let the game go. You won. Time for you to look toward the rest of the season. We are.

what a moron. If the SEC was so concerned with helping its teams get to the playoff, they would have had the team ranked 6th win, not lose.

I've seen a couple of games where I had no doubt this was true; that Fla. vs Arky game comes to mind.

Didn't see anything like that with this game though, just some bad call on both sides.

We all get screwed by the refs some of the time.

Remember when the ref semi-tackled the Cock vs. LSU? Stuff happens in real time....

the logic of the conspiracy theorists makes no sense...they would have ensured a team that got blown out by A&M lost not won

It was a poorly officiated game all around for both sides. Didn't see it as rigged though. Didn't read the article, just read the excerpts in the post, but this writer sounds "delusional"
