Are there any Auburn fans that attribute the success of the 2010 season *to the coaching-work of Chizik more than Malzahn? And if so, does the same apply to the 2011 season?

Chiz gets credit for the way he handled it. No other coach could've done what he did.

Cam Newton + Gus = Championship
Trotter/Mosley/Frazier + Gus = 8-5
Mosley/Frazier - Gus = Dumpster Fire

I will say Chiz did a pretty great CEO job of keeping the team focused during that media hell storm, but I won't be advocating a Chizik statue anytime in the future.

Chizik openly admitted that he didn't even want to recruit Cam until Malzahn and Luper convinced him

Chizik played a part in 2010, but I think we all know where the real credit lies.

That title goes to Chizik for his handling of Cam and the shite that rightfully followed him all season. He doesn't get enough credit for that.

Totally agree with this. Also, Chizik meddled heavily with the offense in 2011, so it wasn't the same situation.

Without chiz, 2010 would not have happened. Nor would it have happened without Gus. Chiz hired Gus, though.

Kind of a mixed bag on this. I'd been curious as to how Auburn fans felt about 2010 after Gus' great first year as HC.

Chizik hired Malzahn...

Malzahn recruited Cam and coached the Offense...

Cam and the Offense was the key to 2010s success...

Chizik was the key to 2010s success...

SWIDT...

Despite Chizik's overall failure he did provide some protection against the media onslaught/NCAA scrutiny that year. He helped keep the team focused

The cliche is: Kept his head while everyone around him was losing theirs.

The dumbed down version: he managed to somehow keep the team focused on football when all the media and fans cared about was what happened off the field.

Chizik changed quite a bit after the title, which was his downfall. Coaches had a falling out with and as did the players
