Reports: Texas Tech cans DC Matt Wallerstedt

By my count, both of our wins have resulted in coaches leaving their jobs, either voluntarily or involuntarily.

NIU coaches better have those resumes updated.

ETA -- looks like Mike Smith, a 2004 TT graduate, will take over DC duties. Holy crap, 2004? The guy has to be 32 or 33 if that's true. Gosling better get some experienced coaches if he wants to keep his job.

Tech can't afford anyone else after Kingsbury's extension. He has a huge buyout now. They will just have to stick with him.

They had a poll on their board regarding his extension, and I was surprised to see how many of their fans regarded it as premature, unearned, or a terrible idea in general. I figured they'd all be throwing roses at his feet, but they seem to be genuinely concerned that he's too young and inexperienced to have a P5 job.

Giving Gosling that extension after 1 fricking year was the dumbest thing the AD could have done.

Dang, I feel kinda bad for him. Not the DC's fault that his Big 12 defense that's filled with guys to play against spread teams got out manned against our squad. Kliff definitely didn't help with with his hurry up offense and his QB throwing bad passes.

Yeah, that was something I didn't get at all. They kept running the up-tempo even after it had become apparent that our running game couldn't be stopped, and they were actually doing fairly well running the football. If your defense is getting gashed for 8 yards a carry, it's probably not a good idea to have quick drives on offense.
