Last Blocking TE to win All SEC Honors??

Nowdays, all of us seem to have TE's who are really looked at as being big good receivers. When a lot of people talk about the great TE's in the NFL, people mention similar guys like Gonzalez, Gates, Vernon Davis, Gronkowski, Graham, etc....
However, blocking is also really important for TE's as well. So my question is, Who was the last TE to win All SEC who was known more for his blocking than receiving ability?

Is this a trivia question or are you not sure and want to know?

I was actually thinking about this yesterday. OJ Howard and Hunter Henrry are the top two TE's in the SEC but have two catches combined through three games. While they are the two best neither would get All-SEC if those numbers keep up because stats are all the voters look at these days.

I do not know the answer, I thought this would be quicker than even googling it.

Tommy Trott?
Could be, I don't know the answer. I looked up Trott and he was 3rd on the team in receiving, but was he known more by the Auburn fans for exceptional blocking?

Exactly. A WR that Ole Miss calls a TE is on pace to get the honors when in reality Howard and Henry are better TE's.
It was refreshing to see the Mackey Award committee take a stand on Jace Amaro last year.

I think he was known more for receiving his first year, and he was a PreSeason 1st Team All SEC. I was looking for that Post Seaston 1st Team All SEC TE who may have had pretty vanilla stats but many people would say he was a hell of a blocker.

This probably is closer to what I'm looking for, I'm looking to see if there was any Post Season 1st Team All SEC TE who had receiving numbers similar to that, but was really thought to be a superior blocker by his fans.

In his junior year, Peters registered 21 catches for 218 yards and four touchdowns, which earned him a second-team All-SEC selection.

Wesley Walls was pretty dang solid.

Good question and replies. Interesting...I'd love for LSUs 7 TEs to combine for 21 catches...so far 1 catch and a lost fumble between them. It is what it is my friends.

The positions have changed a lot. A great blocking tight end might as well bulk up and play left tackle. Much more valuable to his team.
A good tackle is a freak athlete. Jake Matthews, former A&M tackle and first round pick, played QB for two years in high school. And Luke Joeckel, former A&M tackle, had a twin brother that player QB. The days of fat guys on the line are gone, especially on the outsides. So coaches don't waste blocking talent on a tight end.
ETA: Obviously there are some exceptions, but for the most part tight ends are becoming worse and worse blockers.

I expect Hunter's production to pick up starting around September 27th.

Yeah he isn't getting catches because we aren't throwing the ball. That will obviously change in SEC play and he will become Allen's best friend. It's still just frustrating because in this day and age it is costing him a chance at postseason recognition.
