Been busy and missed the beginning of Grindfest.
History seems to rustle jimmies, we found out this morning.

I'm glad I told five friends they couldn't buy my ticket to the USM game because I was keeping my word to you, to have you ignore text after text when it was time to meet up and exchange.

And to avoid people seeing when you blatantly ignore them: Settings --> Messages --> Send Read Receipts [OFF] ON

I'll reply with an apology and hopefully, an explanation that an adult can receive graciously.
If you recall, I did reply to initial text that I was on my way to the stadium. It was raining, and I was stuck in the cluster that was the downtown shuttle issue.
In an effort to meet up with you and purchase said ticket, I left my wife and child to board the shuttle and took off to the stadium on foot.
I had been in Starkville all day, and had been aggressively checking scores of other games. As I approached the Hunter Henry Center via University Drive, I took my phone out to text you and set up a meeting place.
In the middle of composing my text, my phone died. I even attempted to find an available charger in the bookstore to get enough juice to text you, but to no avail. I found a ticket on the street (remember, I needed one, for my child who sat in my lap), for the exact same price I had agreed to pay you.
The next day, upon returning home. I e-mailed you at your 17thebears email account this explanation, and offered to send you the $40 via mail. I received no reply, seemingly mad because you felt like I stood you up on purpose.
One thing I have learned in my many years on this earth is that sometimes people aren't being a dick - sometimes there are circumstances that explain why someone is seemingly a dick. I have burned a bridge of two in the past not recognizing that.
Again, my sincerest apologies. The offer still stands. E-mail me a mailing address and I will put a check in the mail.

Regardless if this is all horse shite or 100% true, it is a nice gesture to still offer the $40.
That's what inclines me to believe it is a legit story.

Split it 20 / 20 and go buy a backup phone battery.
Everyone wins.

It actually bothered me.
If I were going to blow him off I would not have
a. E-mailed him on Friday to confirm that we were still a go
b. Answered his text on Saturday to tell him I am making my way to the stadium.
There's no need to be perpetually offended. Sometimes shite happens.

I need a new phone. Not sold on the iPhone 6. Avoided upgrading to the 5/5s because of the new charger, but recently upgraded to a new iPad with the same connector.
Regardless to say, if I would have had an iPhone 5, my battery life would have been better, or I would have been able to find a plethora of chargers in the bookstore.
Or if Arkansas would not have kept it close with Auburn in the first half - I was basically watching the Gamecast for 45 minutes - drained my battery.

I believe you. I constantly have to remind myself to hear the other side of the story.
If you do upgrade to a new iphone, check out amazon for the battery pack cases. I don't normally have that case on because of the size, but for bachelor parties and gamedays, they are lifesavers.

The battery issue is not a constant problem, day to day, but a 2 hour car ride and a day in Starkville keeping up with games must have drained it.
Anyway, that's why I stood 17thebears up.

The iPhone 6 is going to be dope, brah.
Posted on 9/17/14 at 12:54 pm to DynastyDawg
eh. I didn't like the bigger screen of the 5, and the 6 is even bigger!
Will have to move forward one day though.

I have a similar story, anc. Cell service sucks in the LA hills. I was supposed to meet a gal for dinner one night. She couldn't decide quite where and said she would call me the evening of and let me know where she got reservations. Well, on that evening she is calling and texting. I am in the Hollywood Hills, and I am getting nothing. So, she thinks I am standing her up. In the mean time, I am thinking something came up or she changed her mind, so I opt for Plan B. I take Plan B to Yamashiro's. Plan A is sitting in the bar at Yamashiro's trying to reach me.
Long story short, I had things pretty well settled down until Plan B shot Plan A the bird. OK, not really the bird, but kind of. Plan A is Hispanic. Her name is Suzanne. Plan B called her Maria, which is a special kind of SoCal insult.
Sigh.

All I wanted was an apology. So, of course, I'll accept graciously.

Completely understandable.

As for this, I never received an e-mail from you. However, I did text you the next day, while still mad, with "I guess you found another ticket yesterday," to which you ignored. To me, that was your opportunity to offer an apology, and you didn't offer either an apology or an explanation.

Use my Mophie exclusively on gamedays.

This text prompted my e-mail, which was considerably longer than a text.
Sorry we had a miscommunication, but that's what happened. Again, if the $40 is a big deal, I'll send it to you. I'm a father, a deacon and I genuinely felt bad, but gave the best effort I could considering the circumstances.
Hell, I paid the same for a "worse" ticket out of need.
