In 1992, K-State installed a new press box and the public address announcer began what would become a K-State tradition. After a Wildcat first down, the announcer would say, "Good for a Wildcat first down." Throughout the 1993 season, the P.A. announcer did this ritual alone. However, he said at the beginning of the 1994 season the crowd started to shout it with him. Now, with the addition of the first down and touchdown arm motions, K-State's P.A. announcer no longer even needs to finish the phrase, as the Wildcat fans finish it for him.
This so fricking annoying. Arky and UK fans do that crap.
The "Lynch Mob" is a nickname for the Kansas State defensive team, dating back to the 1990s. The term has historical resonance because Manhattan was well known for lynching horse thieves as a means of frontier justice during the town's brief Wild West era in the 1860s.
"Family" is the most recent slogan associated with the KSU football team. The slogan was popularized by Bill Snyder and appeared on parts of the football uniforms worn by players at the 2013 Fiesta Bowl.
frickers took our schtick!

Here's the truth of the matter.
K-State came to South Carolina in 1984 for a game, got blown-out. SCAR put-up 7 TDs and a ton of first downs all of which were followed by, "It's another Carolina ... (crowd finished with "FIRST DOWN.")
Mitch Holthus was K-State's first year play-by-play guy in 1984 and he was so impressed with how Gamecock fans did it that he vowed to some day install it into the Wildcat ritual. So when Bill Snyder took over he tried it, but it didn't catch-on because they had a shitty inhouse broadcast system set-up. But, by '92, when Snyder got his upgrades he was promised, the first thing Holthus noticed was now they had a serious speaker system inside the stadium ... so he decided to once again try to use the "first down" thing he had learned at South Carolina during his visit here in '84.
And now you know the rest of the story.
I've never been crazy about the practice myself. I remember when Jim Phillips started doing it at Carolina .... it's fun when you are rolling and winning and running-up first downs but it sucks when you are getting smoked like A&M did to us a few weeks ago.
Anyways, to the best of my knowledge we started it ... but I've heard different origins.
We've got our rituals here at Carolina. We've picked them up over the years. We've got enough of them now, I don't want anymore.

Also the first to take 103 years to get a bowl win.

A victim of circumstances.
Although, no, there are other programs that took longer.

They do it down in Corvallis as well.
“It's another O-S-U...first down!”.
I have no idea where it started.
I'm going to guess no other schools play a chainsaw noise when the defense is lined up on third down.
It's part of what makes college football not pro football. Bands and silly traditions. I love it.

You're right.
Double standard.
Jayhawkers, redlegs and bushwackers were all murderous thieving raping pieces of shite that came outta Kansas ... but they use them as names of honor all the time.

Having made four (yes, four) freakin' trips to Manhattan for football, I can confirm that the "first down" crap is annoying, as is the smell from the dairy center across the road when the wind is from the north. If you're really lucky, it will be "Harley Day," and you'll get to see about 100 Hell's Accountants circle the field on the motorcycles. We're talking big time entertainment here.

Yeah, I'd question anyone that emulates the Cult on the Plains as well.
