I'd be surprised if he's Bama's OC next season. I think this gig was a one year deal, mutually speaking.

that would be the job he should have started out with in head coaching.

Kiffin got a 3 year deal

Trustees also approved details on the contract for Kiffin. The former Tennessee and Southern California coach will make $680,000 salaries each of the next two years and $714,000 in the final year ending Feb. 28, 2017.

For Kiffin to maximize his value after this year he'd need at least a conference championship.

If we don't get a ring this year then he may be back next year.

Agreed. He's got more stability here than at Fresno State and could learn a lot under Saban. It's been a few years since he was under Carroll so it can't hurt to refresh things or learn more. While Fresno State is a probable landing spot, I don't think it's that great of a spot to be at, especially with USC out of sanctions.

Was thinking the other day about if he had started somewhere smaller where the expectations were not as high, where would he be now?

Guy isn't even 40 and has been the HC of an NFL team and two of the most prestigious cfb programs. As he gets older do those HC experiences at such a young age make him better or was he better off building something at somewhere like Fresno then joining the big boys?

I think he's gone after 2015 whether he does a good job here or not.

The longer he stays at Bama, the shinier his star gets again.

When does his buyout from USC end? Would getting another head coaching job jeopardize that money?

Kiffin will be most likely take off soon no matter how things shake out.

If he does well, he'll get a head coaching job somewhere within a year or two.

If he does poorly, he'll be run off.

So either way, I see Kiffin with the program 1 or 2 seasons realistically.

I'd love to have him round for awhile, unfortunately it's not gonna happen.

If things go well this year, then he could get a bump in salary. I could see him staying for a couple of years. He could get a good job if he has 2 good years at Bama.

Sounds about right. Fresno State would be perfect for him to prove himself too. Lots of leftover talent that can be utilized and build a team that can challenge the low to mid level opponents of the power 5. He could coach there 2-3 years and then get a job at some place like Washington, Stanford, Cal etc.

I don't think he leaves so quickly. The stability (if we're winning of course) and the credit/exposure he would receive would do him wonders.

It would be a bad career move for him to move in a year or even two. It would show his decision making is still erratic.

I think he will be here one more year minimum.

Other than Fresno State, I can't see anyone else buying into him after just one year as an OC again. I would not be surprised if he left after one year, but I see two being more likely.

He will be here 2 more (total of 3) years, possibly 5 total I think. His is too much in "job rehab" right now for anyone to take a chance on him as a HC yet.

McElwain is a strong candidate for that HC job though for sure

Kiffin is so unreliable that I would be surprised if he left, but It's possible that winning may make him want to stay for a little bit.
