For whatever reason Southerners don't recognize the fact that they are mostly English, Scottish, Scots-Irish, Irish, and Welsh, with a bit of Indian blood thrown in for good measure.

I would argue that the Southerners recognize that a mixture of all of those = being American. It's not like the English still consider themselves German or Norwegian.

The south is primarily many generations of American ancestry. We are not the Ellis Island folks.

I have both. My mom's side has many generations of American ancestry. My dad's side was German who went through Ellis Island, and made their way to Missouri.

I didn't know we had such a large German ancestry here. I figured it would be way more English, Irish, and Italian.
It's also weird to me that the majority of states with large Hispanic and Black populations are the ones who vote majority Republican. You would think the Southern states would be swing states looking at the map and comparing demographic voting trends...almost makes you think the system is rigged and our votes don't count for shite.
