AU has not shut out a team since August 2008...nearly 7 full years.

LA-MO 34-0

When did you pitch your last shutout?

LSU fans, need not apply.

Incidentally, that was the last time Auburn had a defense capable of a shut-out. Tuberville is not the coach anymore. We probably won't get another shut-out with the gunslinger calling the shots, but I don't think it will really matter.

I don't really see us getting one anytime in the foreseeable future. And that's not a slight to the defense, it's just a matter of when we play the teams we should shut out, we're not playing our #1's, and when we're playing better teams, we don't really have the overall scheme that would lend itself to a shutout.

I won't argue with the results.

I'm hurt I can't see anymore 3-2 type games.

:sarcasm:

i hafta admit it`s a bit depressing..i do miss Tub like defenses but i don`t miss some of his offenses, i remember 2003 it took AU 10 Quarters to score it`s first TD and i was there for the 3-2 game, quietest i`ve ever seen two fan bases leaving a stadium.

Remember auburn fans, after our first TD of the season everyone needs to yell "touuuuuuuuuucchhh doooooooowwwwwnnn AUUUUUUBBBBUUUURRRNN" to honor jim fyffe. By the time we got a touchdown i think everyone had forgotten.

Would rather score 40+ on a regular basis than shut teams out, personally.

True statement.

Though I like what we are doing now better, I loved a good defense.

its a shame that this style of play does not let you have a great defense

That's not really true. Just because your defense may be on the field more doesn't mean they are worse. You can't use a bulk statistic like total defense to gauge the performance of a defense of a team who runs a HUNH because it is inherently skewed.

Would not count on it when playing the Wizard.

Regardless of how you measure it, defenses that are on the field more give up more yards and more points.

it is a reality that you must face when you play fast on offense.
