I don't even know where to begin with this stat. talk about a defense not being able to get off the field, against RICE.

Oregon's TOP is usually half of their opponents as well. TAMU has a strike quick offense so can't read too much into TOP for teams like TAMU/ORE etc. Even Auburn to a certain extent.

i realize that but damn thats a lot to ask of your defense.

Had as much to do with our offense not being in sync.
Still, 38 points in 16 minutes, pretty efficient scoring.

i agree thats very efficient. but if i was A&M i would be really worried about my D getting tired halfway through the season, unless you guys finally have enough depth that you've been doing mass subs at positions.

We lost TOP by like ten minutes to Lamar and won 73-3.
We lost TOP to UTEP last year by like 14 minutes and won 57-7.
We run a hurry up offense

Hurry up is a lost term in BR considering Les' offensive strategy revolves around 2-3 of his RBs humping the ball on 1st and 2nd down then a desperate 3rd down pass from Jennings.

It's almost like they scored quickly.

that would make sense if they scored more than 10 points.

Congrats on discovering the side effect of a hurry-up offense.

i'm not an idiot, i know HUNH offenses will tend to lose the TOP but that stat is just severely lopsided. I'm curious to see if their D can keep up all season having to stay on a field that long against sec opponents week in an week out. they showed they couldn't last year.
it makes sense being that they went up and down the field, just couldn't finish. playing bend but don't break D may work now.....

Time of possession for USC game:
A&M: 37:38
USC: 22:22
We had a sloppy game against Rice and our defense is still young and learning.
They will learn from this game and get better.
This game was an anomaly for the offense though, and I would be surprised if the margin of difference in TOP is ever that lopsided for the rest of the season.

Play count is to TOP as Scoring defense is to total defense.
which is to say if you care about TOP you are a dinosaur.

We wanted to keep our offense off the field so they would be well rested for the big SMU showdown.
Posted on 9/15/14 at 12:41 pm to roguetiger15
Our offense had like four 2 minute thirty seconds or less scoring drives (I think two under 1 minute)

Another A&M thread started by an LSU fan on an LSU board. I'm shocked.

you have to admit, mine was half troll and half pure serious question about your D though
i think this is a bert is fat board tbh

Realize that A&M's first TD was 13 plays for 80 yards and primarily running and still took well under 4 minutes of clock time. You don't see A&M defensive players get tired often but you see teams defending A&M begging for mercy against a HUNH that spreads the field and goes up and down. Remember the clock doesn't run on incompletions, OOB, or really on first downs in a HUNH but it's not like the players aren't out there going a mile a minute. The USC Defense in the 4th Quarter looked like a wounded horse begging for a bullet to the head.

38-10
that's a pretty factual, solid, RELEVANT stat
