1-Auburn- The Tigers were off this past weekend and get a big test this Thursday night at Kansas State. It’s a huge game for both teams for different reasons. The Wildcats can insert themselves into the national conversation and Auburn can make a big road statement.
2- Texas A&M- The Aggies rolled over Rice, 38-10, this past weekend behind four touchdown passes from quarterback Kenny Hill. After South Carolina’s win against Georgia, A&M’s 52-28 win in Columbia to open the season looks even more impressive. It’s at SMU this Saturday before conference play cranks back up.
3- Alabama- The Crimson Tide soundly defeated Southern Miss, 52-12, in a game that was closer than it should have been early on. Florida comes to Tuscaloosa this Saturday for the SEC opener.
4- Ole Miss- Quarterback Bo Wallace continued to impress as the Rebels knocked Louisiana-Lafayette out, 56-15, in Oxford. Ole Miss is off this coming weekend, then it’s local rival Memphis before perhaps one of the biggest home games in recent Rebels history when Alabama comes calling Oct. 4.
5- Mississippi State- The Bulldogs won another tune-up game at South Alabama, 35-3. This weekend the tests begin in Baton Rouge against LSU. This game represents a huge opportunity for Mississippi State, which hasn’t beaten the Bayou Bengals since 1999.
6- LSU- The Tigers shut Louisiana-Monroe out, 31-0, and just as is the case with Mississippi State, Saturday night’s game is a big one. LSU head coach Les Miles is 9-0 against State during his time in Baton Rouge, but the experience factor is in favor of the veteran Bulldogs heading into this game against the youthful Tigers.
7- South Carolina- The Gamecocks got up off the mat and defeated Georgia, 38-35, on Saturday in Columbia, inserting themselves back into the SEC East race. South Carolina is at Vanderbilt this Saturday, then two big division games follow- Missouri at home and at Kentucky. If the Gamecocks can continue to improve on defense, this could be the big season they hoped for.
8- Georgia- The Bulldogs likely are better than
the eighth-best team in the league overall, but a loss is a loss. Georgia has three straight home games- Troy, Tennessee and Vanderbilt before back-to-back October road games at Missouri and Arkansas. UGA lost to South Carolina in 2011 and 2012, yet still won the SEC East, so last Saturday was not a goal-killer.
9- Missouri- Just like last season, folks are sleeping on the Tigers. Missouri has one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Maty Mauk, explosive playmakers at running back and perhaps the best pair of defensive ends in the conference in Shane Ray and Markus Golden. Missouri beat UCF, 38-10, last Saturday, plays Indiana this coming Saturday and then the next three games- at South Carolina, Georgia, at Florida will determine if the Tigers can win their second straight SEC East.
10- Florida- I mean, the Gators are 2-0 and showed toughness and grit in holding off Kentucky, 36-30, in triple overtime. We will learn more about Florida this coming weekend when the Gators head to Tuscaloosa.
11- Arkansas- The Razorbacks ran “hog wild” against Texas Tech, piling up more than 400 rushing yards in a 49-28 win in Lubbock. Northern Illinois, which owns the country’s longest true road game winning streak (17 straight) comes to Fayetteville this weekend. The Huskies won’t be an easy out.
12- Kentucky- The Wildcats have improved dramatically this season, particularly on the defensive line, and played well in the loss to the Gators. UK is off this weekend before playing back-to-back home games against SEC foes Vanderbilt and South Carolina.
13- Tennessee- It’s hard to rank the Vols this low. After all, they lost at Oklahoma and were supposed to lose at Oklahoma. Other teams have just moved up. Tennessee has a bye this week before going to Georgia on Sept. 27 for the SEC opener.
14- Vanderbilt- Derek Mason and staff got their first win with the Commodores, 34-31, against UMass- and came from behind to do so. The hope in Nashville is that they carry that momentum into Saturday’s home game with South Carolina.
This is pretty embarrassing for the East. At what point do they rebalance schedules so the west doesn't cannibalize itself?

At this point, I think it's a correct assumption. LSU is staring 6th in the West dead in the face.

I disagree with us being so low, but it's tough to justify anything else so whatever. Power rankings don't mean shite anyway

no problem. Can't wait to watch AR-Kansas run up and down the field on that D.

When we win by 3 TD's, it will make no difference.

They got a whopping 10 points to show for it.
BTW, congrats on holding SHSU to 20 yards less of offense than 6 yo Div II team, Colorado State - Pueblo held them to.

Aggies to high.
Rice's offense dominated the game as they pushed A&M's defense around. Rice was just to physical for them.

So you defend aTm giving up 500 yards by saying they only scored 10 from it, but then proceed to try and shite on LSU for giving up 206 yards while shutting out their opponent.
Makes sense......

Wasn't defending it. It didn't make me happy, but honestly I am more concerned about points than yards. As far as the SHSU example, I was simply using the previously established standard used by an LSU fan to troll Aggy by pointing out they can be trolled as well.
My apologies if you didn't get that.
