I agree with Charles and this is pussyfication of America imo. Why can't parents whip their kids? I think America is the only country in the world where parents use "time out" to discipline their children LOL. You can even go to jail for disciplining your kids.

In france, bad children are made to analyze the source of their ennui, by reflecting on the banality of existence. While eating crepes.

Actually, you're a pretty big pussy if you have to hit a defenseless kid to get him/her to act right.

Do you consider all corporal punishment to be child abuse?

It does, until your understand that all pain and pleasure is an internal, isolated, subjective manifestation of our perceptual responses. While eating croissants.

In most instances isn't it just the parents taking out their anger on a kid in the form of physical violence? Seems like lazy parenting.

I don't believe in spanking/whooping kids as discipline, however I don't consider it wrong to an extent. If it's minor it's ok, but medium to long lasting injuries is child abuse IMO

I believe putting your hands on a child with the intent to inflict physical pain is child abuse. And I don't mean "hand" to be taken literally. Switches, paddles, etc., are an extension of the hand.

Make of that what you will.

Do you believe your parents abused you? If not, then you're being a hypocrite. If so, why haven't you reported those monsters?

The alleged photo is pretty bad. I don't think we should take his kids away or throw him in jail. And I'm not gonna tell people not to spank their kids. I was spanked/paddled when I went too far, and I fricking deserved it. My kid probably will too. But in this particular case it looks like the parent took it too far. Did he make a mistake or is it a pattern? How far is too far? It's a tricky situation.

Some people seem to be completely put off spanking/hitting because of their parents. Some seem to think it worked and will do the same to their kids.

I have not met anyone yet whose parents did not spank/hit but plans to use that tactic with their kids.

That would be interesting.

Yes.

Because it really didn't have any negative impact on me. And I didn't think it was a big deal until I had kids. I always thought I'd spank my kids, but then I had kids and realized how dumb, lazy and barbaric it is.

That's pretty fricked up if you think being anti child abuse is trolling.
