Yes, UGA lost to a good team. It happens every year. But the schedule sets up nicely moving forward and we all know SCAR will trip over themselves at some point. Luckily we have Auburn at home. So does it come down to the UGA/Mizzou game in October? The East is the antithesis of the West, the 4th place team could easily run the table.

Also, I posed the question on the UGA board...is there such thing as a good loss in today’s playoff landscape? UGA lost early to a top 25 team on the road by 3 points, in a game decided by millimeters.

What if Michigan State and UGA run the table, and it comes down to the selection committee eye test. How will they decide? MSU lost to a much better team? The SEC is much more competitive? I’m making a lot of assumptions here, but how are they going to make an informed and unbiased decision?

It will be tough for these guys to ignore brand recognition. What if it’s down to 2 spots. You have a 1-loss Bama (2nd in the West), 1-loss Notre Dame and an undefeated BYU team. Do you really think the Cougars are getting in?

Serious question, what comes off as bait material? I’ll gladly change it to open up discussion

Or did I make a mistake thinking the rant could have one?

Well for starters. Why was USC eliminated week one, but UGA wasn't after last Saturday?

Durrr. USC controlled that game from the beginning and Georgia was able to make it very interesting in the 4th quarter. What does that make UGA?

Fair enough, edited

That’s a serious question. Insert Auburn, LSU, or any other national power in that scenario. Does the committee leave out an undefeated team outside of the power 5?

UGA is a bad team. Hell, the East is complete garbage. I tried my best to make that clear with the 4th place West reference. Should have been more explicit, noted

UGA isn't winning the East and definitely not making the playoff. It's as if y'all think you're so much better than the 5 loss team from last year. Please.

not even an obligatory rating?

50% of the UGA bored is on suicide watch so I’d prefer to have discussion elsewhere...too much negativity for me

Serious question, is Gurley on a carry limit? Or does he just take himself out?

The only thing tripping here is you by counting us out of the race two days after beating you. This team has proven they are not going to just roll over and give up on our opportunity to get back to Atlanta and both our defense and offense are showing steady improvement. Time will tell, but this thing is far from over.

This.

In a "fair" world, a one-loss team from a superior conference would get the playoff bid over an undefeated team that did not play any quality opponents.

We do not live in that world.

The four teams that will generate the most television revenue will get the playoff bids.

I think it’s both. Gurley was gassed a lot against SCAR, but it’s hard to carry a team on your back. I think Richt would love to give him the ball 30-40 times, but he isn’t that type of back. But if you take Gurley off this team, we’d be a 7-5 team without a doubt.

I think you nailed it, keyword “fair”. But if we make assumptions based on conference or competition, I think we could be making a mistake. Look no further than the Fiesta Bowl when Boise upended OU. Or When Boise put it on UGA at the kick off game. If we go by biased criteria, we could be short changing programs who are potentially better. I’m not suggesting BYU is better than any of the aforementioned teams, but how can a group of 16 or 18 make an informed decision? The flaws are endless in any scenario.

Oh ok. I think if Chubb is as good as he appears and Y'all can get Bobo to give him the ball more uga could certainly win out but I don't see them beating the west champion.

This is where the rant is today. He posts a pretty legit question that he put a lot of thought in to, and y'all just assume it's a troll. Legit discussion doesn't take place anymore and it's kind of sad.
