The stupid arse hires made by teams over there (Dooley, Phillips, Muschamp, etc.)

As much as I hate to admit it, the answer is Saban. He made Urban's arse quit and he made everyone else in the west start stepping up if they wanted to compete.

Lots of good coaches in the West. Only Spurrier is good in the East

Combination of Saban, Fulmer, Richt losing control, UF being inconsistent, West teams improving to keep up with Bama.

A few things:

LSU, Bama, TAMU, and Auburn are all closer to talent than Tenn, USCe, and Missouri are. So that leaves UGA and UF to carry the flag for the east consistently.

The problem with that is:
1. Auburn and Alabama are getting more GA talent than UGA.

2. UF has been full retard since Tebow left. Imagine where they'd be if Cam Newton had succeeded Tebow instead of Brantley?

I fully expect UF to be back as soon as they have a competent staff. Maybe that game yesterday helped turn it around for Muschamp. If Muschamp can skate by with 9 wins this year, we'll see if a new QB in Grier can get the Gator offense rolling again. Driskel is painfully mistake prone.

UGA has to stop being so soft on D. Recruiting fat arse 320 lb+ DL isn't going to work in this age of spread offense.

A little unfair. It could be argued that Pinkel does the mist with the least.

1. Horrible hiring decisions at Tennessee.
2. Meyer losing control of the UF team post-Tebow.
3. UGA fans and administrators being content with a coach that can't win big.
4. Saban coming to LSU and Bama and forcing everyone else in the West to step their game up.

That and Georgia losing VanGorder and having shitty defense since. And Tennessee losing Chavis to LSU. And of course Bama getting Saban was the biggest one factor.

I think UGA admins have stated they would not follow the Jones regarding football. But that is good for AU so I am not mad.
