"I wasn't really high on them before," Smith said. "But this was a huge win for them. It was a great game and should be a big momentum boost for them."

Smith is thought to favor Georgia in his recruiting, with 80 percent of the crystal ball projections favoring the Bulldogs. However, he said the Gamecocks certainly helped themselves out this weekend.

"It was pretty good. I really enjoyed it and getting to know Coach Ward and Coach Spurrier," Smith said. "They helped themselves quite a bit today. Getting to spend more time around Coach Ward was big."

Smith is rated as the No. 48 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 4 OLB.

"It was so amazing," Edwards said of his visit. "What an incredible game and against Georgia, the No. 6 team. The crowd was rocking the entire time. What an amazing night."

Do you have Trent Thompson recruiting him to Carolina? If not, then no. He is not SC bound.

He said nice things about your team. That's basically a commitment right?

Pretty much.

We were on him early for his rankings took off. He really liked Coach Botkin, but the home state stuff got in the way. I think we're actually full at LB, I know we turned down Amonte Caban recently b/c of that. However, Smith may or may not be a take for us, I haven't seen any insiders confirm either way.

5* 2016 TE Issac Nauta

"It went great. It was my first game in Columbia," Nauta said. "I had been there before but this was my first game. I had a lot of fun. It was a crazy game. They really pulled out the red carpet for me. They've been in my top 2 with a while and they are definitely moving the right direction. They definitely reaffirmed that they are in my top 2."

"I was really impressed with the way they stopped Gurley," Nauta said. "He busted out a few good runs but for the most part their defense contained him and showed what they could be. They got the tight end the ball a lot, too. "

"Jerad Washington is from Jacksonville and I have Jacksonville ties so we know a lot of the same people," Nauta said. "He was definitely recruiting me hard. Any ball the tight ends caught he was telling me that could be you right there. He was recruiting me pretty good. And I got to meet Brandon (McIlwain). He's one of the top quarterbacks in our class and I had a lot fun with those guys."

Honestly, before Saturday I was a little antsy about a lot of the UGA leaning recruits taking in this particular game... But I couldn't be happier that they got to see that atmosphere last night. Could have some impact down the road.

"South Carolina, Tennessee, Clemson, Florida and Georgia are still my leaders," Hardman said. "The visit went great. This was a good win for the Gamecocks and a great day for South Carolina."

Yes, actually Thompson IS recruiting him to USC. Him, Rochester, and JaQua Daniels. Trent is being truthful and up-front with them, which you gotta respect. And Cleveland also wants onto the Gamecock Party Train, but has been told we need to see how the class fleshes out first, before we'll take him. Stay tuned....

It's a fluid number really. We have 28 commits now. 6-8 could be EE's. We'll probably end up signing around 32, IMO.

4* QB (and #1 QB target for SC in 2016,) Brandon McIlwain

"The atmosphere was amazing," McIlwain said. "All the chants that they have and everything is incredible. It was the best atmosphere I have been in. It was an awesome game. I picked a good one to come to."

"They put on a show," McIlwain said. "The whole team played well, offense and defense. Dylan threw the ball around very well and it was great to see."

South Carolina is considered the favorite to land the Gamecock legacy.

That's big.

But the real thing is that we gambled inviting them all in for a visit last night ... rolled the dice, and won.
