how can you call a pass on 1st and TD on the 4? With the stable of backs we have? At that critical point in the game?

Please explain.

Coaching was bad in this game.

You call that pass if you think it's the best call in that situation.

Some of y'all are retarded. If it had worked, you'd be calling him brilliant for being unpredictable. Wasn't that the original complaint about Bobo, that he was too predictable?

Obviously it didn't work. I'm sure he would love to have a do-over.

Not a good play call, but if the refs don't hose us on the call and Mason doesn't make it so fricking obvious, then it's second and 4. But yea, give it to Gurley.

No way, he blew it. You have a depleted receiving corps, it's raining, and the game is on the line. You have the ball on the 4. You give it to your Heisman front-runner running back every time.

Maybe that's just me.

Edit: Bobo had a good game overall. Just sometimes I don't get it...

I know a lot of younger UGA fans like to dismiss Vince Dooley but if Dooley were coaching and he had a true heisman candidate at tailback that tailback would see the ball about 40 times a game...and he definitely would have carried the ball 3 times from the 4. Football has gotten more complicated since Dooley was coach but one thing remains constant....power football works like a champ if you have the ability to run it...

This. It's like asking why we didn't set Morgan up on the left hash. Was anyone bitching when Gurley converted the sweep on 3rd and 16?

As others have said, if passing on 1st and TD worked, Bobo would have looked brilliant. Think about it. We have a stable of excellent running backs, guess what their defense was thinking we would do? Run the ball! Our coaches just need to learn that Mason is not Murray and they need to play call accordingly. As expected Mason played within his capability. Don't expect him to be special or creative. That is reality.

And what about the stupid pass play called for the TD to Rome from the 5 and the two point conversion pass what the hell was Bobo thinking with that stable of RB's?! Throwing the ball for a TD that's crazy.

Come on the lack of defense cost the game

The D did suck, but they got the huge int at the end of the game when we needed it. The ball was on the 4 yard line and the offense had the chance to tie the game or take the lead. There was like 5 or so mins left in the game.

You run the ball in this situation. You have Gurley, the best rb in the nation, you so again, you run the ball with him. You hope you score on like 3rd down and run a min or 90 sec off the clock too. Instead we do the exact opposite and we have a shite for brains 5th yr qb who can't throw near the receiver. Rome wasn't close and he wasn't even expecting the pass when it happened. It was an easy call, the ball probably didnt even make it to the line of scrimmage.

So yes when the offense had the chance to win or tie the game, it failed horribly. The D came through with the turnover that it needed, but the O fell short.

That interception doesn't let them off the hook for being bad the rest of the game.

35 points is supposed to be enough to win a game on the road in a tough environment.

The fact that no one is bitching about the I G call on Mason is a little strange. The ball hit a defender in the thigh. The correct call is incomplete, 2nd down ,ball on 4 .

It's obvious to everyone but him.

It's like when we were third and 3 and Bobo decides a handoff to Chubb up the middle would work? Even though we did shite up the middle all night long. If you're going to call that play, at least give it to Gurley, not to a freshman who has played exactly once.

Agree. Yea, if the bootleg had worked, it looks brilliant but I would bet on Gurley getting 4 yards in 3 downs pounding it up the middle all day long.

See I dont understand this logic. Our D last year (with almost the same players) still gave up I think 9 games, where the opponent scored over 30. I just don't see how we can expect our D to keep teams under 30.

But the offense had a chance to win the game w/ the turnover and shite the bed. So yes, the offense was a let down. 1st and goal on the 4 yard line, but the offense didnt lose the game.
