He had an opportunity to show Ole Miss's past and then show how it has changed for the better. Instead it was mostly all about our past with a clip of how the homecoming queen or president had somebody say something racist to her but she got over it.

We have a guy who is a nationally recognized and respected sportswriter living in Oxford who is an Ole Miss season ticket holder, and our fans would rather shite all over him for producing a documentary that the rest of the country has mostly forgotten about already.

Why should he do that? That wasn't the point of the story at all.
Really, the story didn't have a "point" but rather tried to weave two separate stories together, but either way what Ole Miss is like today is really only a footnote in the story of 1962.
