1,103 yards – Frank Sinkwich, 1941

and that was when getting 1,000 yards actually meant something - they only played 10 games

Not sure, but I'm guessing John Dottley with 1,312 yards in 1949.

I'm pretty sure for us it is Curtis Dickey in 1978, with 1146 yards. 3-time NCAA 60-yd dash champ. He was kinda fast, in other words. Played against him in high school, though "played" is used loosely here.

ETA: Ack! Forgot Woo Woo Woo! George Woodard had 1153 in 1976.

I'm pretty sure the previous closest to that milestone was Bubba Bean with 944 in 1975.

I think he is talking for a single season.....not combined yards for their career.

There is a good story about ours.

Our 1st 1,000 yard rusher was Kevin Long in 1975... our 2nd 1,000 yard rusher was Clarence Williams exactly 1 game later.

2 1,000 yard rushers in 1 season.

eta: Long finished with 1,333, Williams with 1,073.
