I was skeptical when I heard Gurley and Marshall were coming the UGA. I had spent 3 years in Jacksonville, NC (camp lejeune) and spent most of my free time watching the local high schools play. My wife and I even traveled trying to find decent games to watch. I can tell you this, North Carolina high school football is garbage compared to what I was used to. I just didn't see all the hype from anyone coming from that state. I'm very happy I was wrong.

I was excited for both but the regulars on our recruiting thread convinced me Todd was a good back. I had no idea he'd be what we have seen though.

It's obvious but the guy is just special. I have never felt a guy is as much of a threat as Gurley. Musa was a good back. I loved Thomas Brown and his gutsiness. I used to love Moreno until I heard about his focus during his career at UGA. But those three did not break open games. Musa was a bruiser. Brown was a tough runner but was not as physically gifted. Moreno had the vision and move but not the speed. Gurley has it all and every time he touches the ball I marvel at it. Gurley takes 2-3 yard losses and makes them gains.

His TDs should even be losses. His 2nd TD vs CU last year is a perfect example. Murray hit the FB on the hand off, the OL didn't get the first group of guys, and Gurley ran through it all. It's unreal.

AJ Green and Todd Gurley are the two dawgs I have always thought each play had a chance for 6.

Shannon Simmons, his older brother, saw it when Gurley was only 6 years old. Because Gurley was so good at football, a Pop Warner league in Baltimore made him play on his brother's team, which consisted of kids aged nine to 11. Gurley was the star of the team.

And the legend grows. He is one dominant performance this weekend away from being firmly entrenched as the Heisman front runner.

My wife has heard me make jokes about being a Gurley Man. Well, she was at the courthouse (she's a court reporter) after the Clemson game and one of the lawyers said, how 'bout them dawgs, to which she replied, I'm a Gurley Girl.

In Tarboro, Gurley found a support system that would help him excel and remain grounded. On most Sunday nights during high school, Gurley ate dinner with Jenkins at Mama's Pizza in downtown Tarboro. Over pizza and wings, Jenkins talked to Gurley about staying out of trouble, choosing the right friends and working hard academically so he'd be eligible to receive a scholarship.

I've seen nearly every RB at Georgia since 1964, and most college RBs in that time. Gurley is very close to being the absolute best of them all. Alas, this will be the year for him to make it or not. He'd be a fool not to go in the draft next spring.

You, sir, married well.

But I am sure you are well aware of that.

I like how two of our better athletes (recently) wanted to play basketball instead of football at some point. Gurley & Jarvis Jones. Maybe that's the secret formula for badasses.

He's a damn good kid and great football player, definitely one of the best to ever don the Red and Black. I wish he could play for UGA forever, but I'll be proud to see him make it in the NFL. You can't help but root for a kid like him to succeed.

I know my little part is small...but this right here is one of my biggest reasons for being involved in rec league football...i dont know how many mouthpeices, cleats, rides home, etc. my wife and I have given to boys who are superb athletes...but have a tough family situation...lots of mommas that have boys that they know have potential, they just need some help getting them there...i got a few that I could see one day "making it"...and I hope they have this exact attitude...dude is a DGD....and I hope he doesn't win the Heisman....i hope he ends up 2 or 3 and then gets drafted #1 overall...Heismans dont get you more money...this dude deserves ungodly amounts of guaranteed #1 pick money!!
