What number would you like to see OM grow to enrollment wise?

Last year we had 19,426 on campus in Oxford. This year is more. How much can our campus hold?

Are you of the mind to make a cut off and have some agreement with IHL that we cannot fit more students so while we will leave the requirements to apply at your level, we cannot accept everyone that applies..... or build up our alumni base and student body so we can have a big stadium, lots of connections etc? Texas A&M can fill a 100K seat stadium. Thats impressive, but we could too if we had 39K students come to our games. Not that we would ever hit that mark, but still.

Oxford, infrastructure wise, cannot accomodate mandy more than what it has. That place is a nightmare now. Happy with 20k.

I don't think we can fit too many more. Parking is past the point of recovery. Building space isn't really available. We need to tell the state to frick off and raise admission standards.

Raise admission standards.
Cap Oxford enrollment at 20k.

Quality students mean more for the school than quantity. The University has grown at a tremendous rate the past twenty years, especially considering the national averages saying admission numbers are declining.

I'll accommodate her if Oxford can't.

I think I like capping at 20k as well. They need to hurry up and build up over off of 7 more so it takes more pressure off of Jackson Ave. would help a lot I think.

But they don't need to raise admission standards. No need to do that. Just don't automatically accept anyone that meets them. If you wanna cap at 20k then only admitt the amount of students that leave school from the year before. Many schools that are "good" schools academically don't have super high admission standards. They just are selective with who they take. It's not a new concept.

If it is, so be it. frick the state trying to tell us what to do. We need quality, not entitlement, but that's a whole other conversation.

I was being sarcastic but that's literally the reason we have the same admission standards throughout the state. Because they don't want State and Ole Miss to run away from the historically black colleges.

And this is why the state of Mississippi will always be stuck where it is. SMDH.

Exactly. We both catch so much shite about our academics being shitty when that's not the case at all. Our admission standards are what give everyone the impression that we are shitty universities when we are anything but. Ole Miss has an extremely high drop out rate of freshmen because none of the incoming classes can take on the work load and I'm glad they make it that hard.

Ole Miss has an elite Accounting school that is constantly ranked in the top 10 best in the country and State's engineering school is among some of the best in the country. Ole Miss and State are very good universities. If they could set their own admission standards, the MINIMUM ACT score to get in would probably be around 23 or so.

If we keep growing like we have been we will hit 30,000 within the next 10 years. They'll have to build half a dozen parking garages and come up with a better transportation system than they have now.

There are plenty of places on campus where they could build parking garages.

Where at? I can see one between Kinard and Kincannon. The other I guess would be where the Tad Pad is now.

Tad pad is going to he a green space, but you're correct on being around Compton. No idea where the other will go but around the tad pad would seem right
