From austudent22

The Board of Trustees approved a major building project last week that is the first step in Auburn's 21st century master plan. They are building a 69,000 sq/ft class room building on the Mell Street side of the Library lawn and it will connect into the library. The building will provide about 40% of the modern classroom space Auburn is shooting for by 2018. Estimated cost is 25mil. They anticipate construction to begin by next summer.

The next step is when that building is operational, 2016-2017, they are going to demolish Parker and Allison halls and construct a classroom building and then a lab building on that site. It is being called the Academic Success project and will provide the other 60% of Auburn's classroom goal.

The next part of the master plan (which was not discussed at this weeks meeting) will see the tower portion of Haley demolished along with two quadrants leaving just the two quadrants that face what was Thatch Ave. They will be renovated and connected.

I hope they have a date for Parker's demolition because I'd love to see that building go its final resting place.

About time. Or actually about 25 years too late.

Whaa? There are (or used to be) a ton of Liberal Arts professors' offices in the tower. Where will they relocate to?

Haley wasn't much better when I was there in the last 90's/early 00's. I'd be totally fine if they just tore the hole thing down. I've never liked that building.

I graduated in '96. About the only things that haven't changed are Momma G's, Haley Center, and Parker Hall.
