Has Texas recruiting slowed down for the big guys since Texas A&M joined the SEC? I don't think Alabama's has slowed down but it looks like LSU's may have slowed down some.

Bama's has remained steady. 1 or 2 a year.

What makes you think LSU's has slowed? LSU just brought in 2 5-star DBs, 1 4-star WR and a 3-star DE from TX

LSU owns the state of Texas, kids grow up wanting to play in Death Valley.

Trey Lmfao, Collin Jeter, and Cameron "I kick the shite out of the ball" Gamble are also all from TX. If anything 7 signees from across the border is a little high for us, we probably average 5 a year.

We have all the rest apparently and have been recruiting 5 stars out of Louisiana as well. To think that LSU owns Texas is ridiculous. Alabama probably gets better recruits from Texas on average than LSU.

Now that we have better facilities, a coach that doesn't eat grass and secretly wants to go back to Michigan combined with better academics, better recruiting hotbed, a larger student body with more alumni and lots more money (endowment) seems to support the trend that shows Texas A&M out recruiting LSU. We are ahead now and with the 6 or 7 five stars that we could close our class out with we might even finish above Alabama this year. Either way we will out recruit grass eater.

When Texas A&M gets a little more defense on the field it won't matter anyway because a Les Miles offense will never beat a Kevin Sumlin offense with equally talented athletes. As we have seen so far a Kevin Sumlin team has the ability to beat teams with overall higher rated athletes on the field. I don't think you beat the Aggies on Thanksgiving night and for sure don't see LSU winning the West. It is only downhill for you guys from here on out.

South Carolina thought they were good too and the Aggies sucked. See how that worked out. Les doesn't know this but you are not going to win championships running the ball alone (Fournette). He is going to have to have a real quarterback with more than one or two real receivers.

If you already decided the answer why ask the question?

I just responded to the lunacy that LSU rules Texas recruiting. It doesn't and only a moron would make that claim.

My OP asked how LSU's Texas recruiting was going since Texas A&M joined the SEC. I have no knowledge of how LSU recruited Texas prior to Texas A&M joining the SEC. I am sure it has varied some.

Yes Les Miles did win a championship with Saban's recruits. Everyone already knows that. He hasn't won one since? I don't know if he will ever be able to win one again.

However, it is obvious that he is not Gus Malzahn or Kevin Sumlin when it comes to offense. One of these two coaches will likely win a national championship before Les Miles does going forward.

How is this so les has been the coach at lsu for 10 yrs now has 3 sec championship appearances 2 of which he won 2 national championship appearances 1 championship sends the most ppl to the nfl year in n out but still avgs 10 wins a season if anything hes the most consistent coach besides saban. guz has been the coach of auburn for 3 trs n sumlin 3 though they both had good years lets see if they can continue over time like les cuz defense wins championships not offense if auvurn had 13 sec better defense they'd be champs not fsu n u guys had the best qb for the las two years but no ship y cuz of d till they both get good to elite d's they will not win ships
Dude all your first rounders these past two years have been shermans players c'mon man you guys are the last people to be talking about this right now

Has any LSU fan made this claim? I know there are a few still butthurt about speedy so they bring up Jamal Adams etc. but I would think if you got their serious opinion it would be that they take mostly all the top LA talent and try to snag a few top ones from Texas and other parts of the country each year.

Considering the sheer quantity of top Texas recruits, for LSU to "own" Texas recruiting, their entire recruiting class would need to be Texas recruits.

The Vols have

LaDarrell McNeil - S
Dimarya Mixon - DT/DE
Chris Weatherd - LB

Johnathon Johnson - WR, who I believe was a walk-on.

No one is trying to take anything away from what Les has done. As an Aggie I don't care anyway. I am talking about going forward.

You are wrong about defense. The standard for defense over the last 6 or 7 years has been Saban. However, a Saban style defense can't shut down a Sumlin or Malzahn style offense. Maybe they will come up with the counter but no one has yet.

You completely miss the most obvious thing about Auburn's national championship run last year. The year before they went winless in the SEC. With the same athletes and Malzahn's offense they almost win a national championship the following year. NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!!!!!!

Unless Nick, Les, Bret, Mark or Steve figure out that they are running the wrong offense then their chances for future national championships are slimmer than most think.

When Texas A&M gets their defense loaded with 4 and 5 star athletes with some experience the teams like LSU won't even be in the discussion UNLESS they change their offense and upgrade.

Johnny was great but he may not be the best for Sumlin's system. Kenny Hill broke Johnny's yardage record in his first game on the road playing an SEC game. He had almost 300 yards last week getting pulled early second quarter.

As to draft choices sure Texas A&M had three first rounders BUT that was it. We did not have anymore. We have not had the depth of LSU and Bama....but it is coming.

Malzahn has only coached Auburn for one year unless I am missing something and Sumlin has only coached A&M for 2 years. We are starting Malzahn's second season and Sumlin's third season.

Long story short when Texas A&M and Auburn have equally talented athletes on the field then LSU and Bama lose again unless they change their offense.

Florida changed theirs. Bama brought in Kiffin. What's Les going to do?

How many stars and what years for the Vols recruits?

I don't remember A&M pursuing any of these kids.

McNeil was #86 nationally in 2012 - offers: OSU, A&M, USC, Tenn, Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Baylor, and others

LINK

Weatherd was a **** JUCO in last year's class - offers - Alabama, Tennessee, A&M, OU, OSU

I could bump Alabama, A&M, and Vols threads about him on this very board.

LINK

Mixon was a *** in 2013 - offers - Nebraska, Ole Miss, Missouri, OU. Signed by Nebraska, requested a release, and enrolled at Tenn in spring 2014.

LINK

Johnson was a walk-on out of Blinn.

We probably didn't have much of a shot at them being that they weren't discussed a lot on our boards...but the two that Sumlin offered must be pretty good.
