Mizzou fans: questions about your defense - - DL specifically

Gents,
I think I remember hearing from you about how stacked your DL was and that the seniors from last year wouldn't be missed. I even think I remember hearing that your backups were better than your starters last year.
Now I see Mizz posters saying they are concerned with their run defense.
What gives? Are the backups to last years starters not as good as you thought? Are the backups to this years backups to last years starters any good?
Mizz D stats (SEC.com):
10th ranked scoring D
10th ranked rushing D
10th ranked passing D
10th ranked total D
Is it the DL that is causing the D to fall? I know you've played some pretty tough competition and once you get to some of the softer SEC teams like UF your stats should improve so there's still hope.

Mizzou will never bring in the talent to remain competitive year in and out of the SEC. It's gonna take half the East starting walk one again for them to thrive once again.

Our DEs are pretty good; potential All-SEC (1st or 2nd team) pretty good. So far our interior d-line hasn't looked great and our LBs haven't been good in gap management so the combo of the 2 makes for some ugly stats thru 2 games. Also we've played a lot of 3 man fronts because our DEs are getting into the backfield pretty easily. The sample size is a little small but we haven't played great against the run so far.

To be fair to Missouri fans, which is a shitty thing to do because frick those guys, Ray and Golden have been pretty good against S.Dakota St. and Toledo:
Ray - 9 tackles; 3.5 TFL; 2.0 sacks
Golden - 16 tackles; 5.0 TFL, 2.5 sacks
The rest of their team has .5 sacks and 5.5 TFL.

2 things really, our DE's are great pass rushers but they'er probably only "good" at run defense.
The other factor is how many D's rely solely on the DL to stop the run? Hint, it's the LB play that makes me worry.

Our DL has been good. Golden has been spectacular and Ray has been great.
We've given up three big runs that skewed our run defense. SDSU's first play of the game for their offense was a freak play that turned into a 75 yard run. SDSU shotgun snapped to their QB. The ball bounced off his shoulder and went straight to their RB. While most of our defense was looking for the fumbled ball, SDSU's RB ran 75 yards down the other sideline for a TD. After that SDSU had 31 rushes for 44 yards.
Toledo had two runs. One a 38 yard TD in the first half and the other a 45 yarder to the one line in the second half when we were up 37-7. In both cases Toledo spread us out with four or five wide and then ran straight up the gut. In the first case we had four DL and two LBs in the box. In the second I believe we only had three DL and two LBs. In both cases our LBs over pursued, filled the wrong gaps, and there was just open field right up the middle once the Toledo RB broke through.

DL is their strength and is very good. The problem is the linebackers are non-existent and secondary can't cover HS receivers at this point in the season.

Another delusional UK fan. 2 wins and they are the kings of the SEC E. Don't worry reality will set in for UK football fans soon. BTW we ALL feel the same about you UK fans.

But no passing TD's and 3 interceptions. We are definetly a bend but do not break Defense.
Which I HATE !!!!

If you weren't a mouth-breathing imbecile, you would have read my post and realized that I was defending Missouri's DL from roadGator's premise.
You also wouldn't have decided that UK fans think they are "the kings of the SEC E" because I posted that Ray and Golden have played well against Toledo and S.Dakota St.
I'm sure there's a whole host of other things that would be different in your life if you weren't a cretin. Unfortunately, here we are.

This.
Golden has a chance to give Missouri back-to-back SEC DPOY'ers.

IMO it is the linebackers, not the D line. The linebackers are out of position on most runs up the middle, which is where the damage has come against us. They are young LBs so hopefully a couple of games will help straighten them out or Gurley, Davis etc. are going to have a field day and it could be a long year. We really miss Wilson in the middle though.
