Texas A&M is still to close to the seething hatred that caused them to tell Texas and the Big 12 to suck it. I understand, Arkansas was like that once.
You see, other fanbases don't appreciate the depth of the loathing that other SWC programs have for Texas. Think of it as Notre Dame but with a lot fewer national titles and an even greater sense of entitlement.
Those first few years you are free of having to deal with the folks from Austin are like... the first day of summer vacation when you are kid. There is a new world, with endless possibilities, in front of you. The last thing you want to do is go back to the hell you just escaped from.
That will change. You see the secret to the success of Texas is that as much as you hate having to put up with them, the sheer joy that comes from watching them in misery after you beat them is too addictive to give up for long. Oh... the Aggies will resist for a while. But like any addiction that desire to curb stomp the Whorns just one more time will always be there.
