With an early conference victory behind them, the No. 19 Wildcats are now preparing for No. 5 Auburn, the first nonconference powerhouse to visit Manhattan in a decade, as well as the spectacle of a nationally televised Thursday game.

quote:

“Some people thought we wouldn’t play the game, but we never hesitated,” Currie said. “Our fans tell me all the time how much fun they had going to Auburn (a 23-13 loss in 2007). It would have been tough not to play that game here. It’s too good an opportunity for our football program and our university.”

quote:

“This will likely be our greatest attended game ever. We actually have not sold standing room-only tickets, because we know our student section will be as full as it has ever been that night. Student attendance is highest on weekdays.”

quote:

In order to play Auburn on that date, though, Snyder required precise timing. He wanted an off week to prepare for the Tigers and nine days to recover for the next opponent.

It will be a hornets nest for sure.

Gus won on the road in Fayetteville and College Station and had our boys prepped in the Rose bowl.

We will be ready for what ever they throw us.

I'm glad they had a good time.

I've never heard anyone have anything bad to say about Kansas State fans...

I still remember the Quentin Groves sacks on Josh Freeman like it was yesterday!

Sack and touchdown, right?... or maybe I'm thinking of another play.

I believe so. Antonio Coleman recovered and returned it.

Groves was in beast mode in that game. Found this....video sucks and the music sucks but some good highlights.

Groves got picked up by the Titans last week and had a nice game playing special teams... he sniffed out a Kansas City fake punt in the third quarter that was a huge play in the game.

He's had a pretty solid seven year career.

I enjoy being around K State fans. They're the AG/Vet school, so they relate well to Auburn. KU is the state school/medical school, and the two fan bases are somewhat like Auburn/Alabama, just not as heated.

This is going to be a fun game. Can't wait to be in Manhattan for it.

I was seriously considering making the trip, then they moved it to Thursday...and killed any chance of me going.

Good for them. Hope to crush their little hope of being somewhat relevant in college football.

When they have a top 3 coach in CFB, they will always be relevant. When Snyder leaves though, they will revert back to futility U

Snyder himself can be considered relevant because he's coached for so long. As a whole, K-State isn't relevant and won't be for many reasons.

That was actually my first Auburn game as an Auburn "fan"

I was a freshman in 07 and this was the first game. I was still more of a VT fan at the time but soon after I was 100% Auburn

This game will bring back some feels

I sat in the upper deck where a bunch of K-State students had bought tickets..they couldn't believe how big the stadium was. Also remember it started raining at some point

I was going to get to skip a wedding I don't particularly want to go to...then the game was moved and now I'm flying to the other Manhattan to attend this wedding
