There are 3 things I noticed. First, our glorious QB situation is now listed as McCrary OR Robinette OR Rivers OR Freebeck. Second, Jerron Seymour and Kimbrow are listed as OR for the 3rd HB spot behind Webb and Rivers. Third, Azubike is now listed as a starting DT, not OLB.

At QB, why the hell is Freebeck even in the discussion? It was stated he was clearly behind even if he showed promise. Holy shite, whoever is making the QB decisions should be the first one fired. Rivers better not start either. McCrary or Robinette are the options to me. If we're going to suck, at least let young guys get experience.

At HB, Webb has been promising. Rivers wasn't bad. What's up with Seymour? Mason says he's going to carry a lot then doesn't play due to injury. Even still, if you're taking the "I'm saying he's playing even if he cant" route like Franklin did, why drop him on the depth chart?

Azubike is the only change that makes any sense. He's really about 20 pounds to light to be there ideally, but I think Caleb can find a way to make it work. We needed to get more of the OLB/DEs on the field. Hopefully we can get a pass rush against UMASS.

I'm trying really hard to hold out some hope. It's just not easy to do. I really thought Mason was going to be a fantastic hire. Maybe he is. Maybe he needs a better OC and is putting too much trust in Dorrell. Whatever the situation, as a HC, you have to fix it. Thoughts guys?

Learning on the job can be a painful process. Let's hope that he IS learning. But for me to believe that, I will need to see some improvement. Scoring some points at home against UMass would be a good start, especially if it happened via our stuck-in-the-mud offense.

Very true. Learning on the job with a very inexperienced team. I get that. It's just been such an offensive dumpster fire mixed with some questionable at best pressers that make me wonder if Mason isn't too busy drowning to learn how to swim.

I hope that he isn't, but I fear that he is. And moves like adding Freebeck into the mix at QB add to that fear.

I'm imagining a conversation like: "Well, we've tried hammering three round pegs into this square hole unsuccessfully. Better hand me another peg, one of them is bound to fit eventually if we just keep working..."

I have not actually seen much of the Ole Miss game (was at Auburn vs SJSU). What I did see seemed disjointed. It was like the playcaller didn't really know what strategy he was using. Without that flow, the offense didn't have much of a chance to get rolling.

Better be Robinette. McCrary has only completed two passes, and they've been to the other team.

I absolutely think it should be Patton. However, I'm hesitant to really blame Johnny too much. He was a RS FR put into a game that we should be dominating but are losing and doing it badly. He also saw a chance to take the starting spot and tried to do too much. I'm not excusing the decisions, just that I understand it was a terrible situation to get your first live reps in.

Do you give any credence to the rumors that Patton came out due to injury against Temple?

I think it's entirely possible. Otherwise, I don't know why you go from McCrary to Rivers without giving Patton another shot, especially after being named the starter.

He seemed fine on the sidelines, though it's entirely possible. But why wouldn't Mason have mentioned it? He's been vilified ever since for pulling the General out. If it was for injury, it would have been perfectly justified. I don't believe the rumors. I do want to see McRary though. And no more burning of redshirts.

I don't know. We keep getting told Seymour is ready, but he's not playing. I can't guess at what Mason is doing or thinking anyway.

3 passes. 2 completions. To the other team.

Mcrary needs to marinate - I just don't want him to get ruined by getting his arse handed to him repeatedly.

Ummm...so Freebeck is starting. What the hell? I'm so confused. This better fricking work.

Anybody posting a game thread on the main board?

I would but will not be able to do the whole game.

So, why did we burn Freebeck's redshirt?

No clue. One positive on that is that Patton is a RS SO, so if he stays the starter then Wade just RS next year

Can Wade redshirt next year?! I didn't know that was possible.

Yup. Seymour redshirted his sophomore year when we had Stacy, Tate, and Kimbrow.
