Bama will run the ball much more(in general, not QB runs) with Sims than with Coker.

i agree. I'd like to see us be a run heavy team like back in '08 and '09. But we've got some WR weapons that we have to get the ball to.

i disagree and think we will be balanced either way.

I like Sims because he really gives Bama that Duel Threat potential....something I haven't seen in a very long time at Bama.

Dumbest argument I've ever heard.

So you want a worse QB so we run more? I don't even..

and for the record, I'm team sims. not saying he sucks...

If you want to run the ball, you'd better be a fan of whichever QB can keep the safeties away from the LOS.

Or whichever QB keeps us ahead of the chains by connecting on the short passes which make up the large majority of passes in the WCO

I think Sims would fit their offense perfectly. Not sure we can adapt ours enough to make it work. I'm willing to hope.

Then let me know when we start using Auburn's offense.

I think Sims deserves to be the starter, period, and the "for now" nonsense needs to stop. It's pretty clear who's better and that Coker was always overhyped.

This is the way I see it. Coker was way over sold to the media and fans by Jimbo.

Why would you "want" x QB over Z QB when Alabama has 4 or 5 QB's competing for the job.

I want the QB that gives us the best chance to win NOW, not a 1,2, or 3 year groom job while dropping games another QB gives us a chance to win.

And if you want to run the ball, right now Sims has done better in handling the offense than any other QB this year so far.

You guys are insane. Let's see how you feel about 30 bubble screens after the FL game, assuming Sims starts. If it were so damned obvious who should start, as many of you claim, I think it would be obvious to our coaches too. They don't seem to be ready to say that Sims is the guy yet. Why not? Maybe because he can't do what they want to do.

The problem that needs to be acknowledged here is that Sims is performing much better than most people expected, and Coker is having growing pangs (which most reasonable people expected.) Coker's still obviously a prototypical drop-back QB with excellent arm strength and decent athleticism (the few runs he did, he looked pretty good at extending the play himself.) It's almost an embarrassment of riches, really, which -- as is obvious from the discussion here -- has a downside to it.

It's pretty obvious that the coaches are having the same problem as the fans here. Coker had played 2/3rds of the game by the time it was called and looked to be playing the entire 4th quarter had it happened. Given that Coker was steadily improving after his cringe-worthy performance in the 2nd quarter, I'm guessing this debate continues against Southern Miss.

The two things I'd point out are that people really tend to underestimate the value of a respected leader, which Sims appears to be while Coker is just too new to have established such a dynamic; and that Coker might not have shown the same results on the ground that Sims did, but 1) he was obviously getting play calls geared to the passing game and 2) definitely showed he's a mobile quarterback on those occasions he couldn't find a viable target.

And obviously, neither can Coker.

As of the first two games, Sims gives us a much better chance to win. Coker couldn't get the play in. He kept telling LK he didn't get the play. That will get us beat just as easily as anything Sims has done.

I think something that a lot of people don't understand is that a lot of those quick throws to the WR in the flats aren't bubble screens (there's no other Offensive player on that side to block for the WR). Often times it's an audible at the line dictated by a big cushion by the CB. That's not to say we don't run bubble screens too, but I wouldn't expect to see nearly as many of the quick perimeter throws against defenses giving less of a cushion.
