However much it is to replace engine = cost to repair blown head gasket and dead cylinder. Hope this helps.

Mother fricker.
Welp. That's that. Glad I just spent fricking $200 on a busted fricking window for it.

Buy a new Camry.
Three days later take your old Camry back to dealer and say that they sold you a broken POS.
They refund you and now you have a new Camry.
Problem solved.

It depends on if the engine is warped or not

you could get by replacing the engine head for $300 (online and have it shipped) and a couple hundred for labor and be good to go.
ETA I just did this a couple weeks ago with my honda, got it for about $250 and re-did the timing myself.

For what it's worth, my check engine light is blinking.

Blinking? I've seen them go solid but never blink. Your engine is probably about to blow up.

Get student loans. Buy new car. Don't pay for car until you graduate.

I had the blinking engine light too. Ended up being a busted fuel pump or something. And I got my gaskets fixed in a 2000 ford focus for around $500 including labor I think.

My Contour finally kicked the bucket last month when the transmission started slipping and there was no reason to put a couple grand in it. Ended up getting a 2011 Chevy Malibu. Love it.

I hope the car I've had for 10 years makes it a few more years. It's in really good shape. Got the tires balanced and rotated today.

I can't complain too much. It was a '95 and still kicking.
I seriously thought about buying a truck (my first car was an '83 F150) but the Malibu is pretty damn roomy.

Donate your car to charity. Write off the loss. Buy a new one.
