Based upon the assumption that Hoke will be fired...
1) Would Michigan approach Les?
2) Would Les listen and consider if offered?
3) Would Les take the job?

Another informative post with replies. It just doesn't get any better than this.

I will always believe that Miles had informally agreed to go to Michigan in 2007, but once Herbstreit broke the story, he refused to let it affect the team. So he gave them his word that he wasn't going anywhere.
I know for a fact that Alabama had already started panicking because Saban was interested in returning to LSU (if Miles left). At this point, the fans at Bama were driving Saban crazy, and he had not quite achieved success. He was missing Baton Rouge, and so was his wife.
At this point, Miles will have a statue outside of Tiger Stadium. He is an LSU man now.

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) No, but not necessarily for the exact reason LSU fans think. Michigan would be an excellent opportunity for Les -- great tradition leading to easy recruiting in a weak league that still gets almost as much press as the SEC despite being second tier. Averaging out the factors favoring LSU vs the factors favoring Michigan, it's a lateral move. But Les is too comfortable at LSU. Until he starts losing more than he does now, he has no incentive to try a new program, even one as near and dear to his heart as Michigan. He's not the sort to go racing home just because 'momma called.' He'll be tempted, but he won't feel the same urgency as Michigan might hope he would.

1. Probably not in '07, but for some reason, probably recruiting, he is more highly regarded now; so YES.
2. Any smart man would listen and consider, Les would too.
3. Leave LSU with all the momentum he has going for the situation in Michigan? There would have to be something seriously wrong at LSU that we don't know about. NO.

I don't really think Miles would take the job, but you never know when you are talking about a guy's alma mater. He is 60 years old and already has a national title, maybe he wants to end his career rebuilding his school.
