SEC running the scores up; Your thoughts?

1) Just wanted to hear the rants thoughts on if they approve?
2) Why do you think SEC is loading the scoreboard up?
3) Will racking the points up have an affect on the playoff selection committees choices?
4) Was there some kind of behind closed doors meetings between all SEC coaches to agree to load the scoreboards up? Because usually SEC teams don't do this (with a few exceptions)
5)Could the blowouts be a statement to persuade those against going to Power 5 vs. Power5 only, to change their minds?
Sorry if already asked. I scanned the 1st page and didn't see a thread that covered this topic.
Thanks for your time and input. I look forward to reading the opinions of the football savvy minds of the rant.
Edited: to add question No. 5

Teams are playing as many back ups as they can and need them to get reps on the whole offense. If that means a lot of scoring oh well, don't take the game if you don't want an arse whooping.
Not a big deal at all.

Run the score? Tamu didn't even try to be creative after the half and they still scored 73.

Arkansas was pretty much the same way, but most of our plays were very vanilla after the 1st TD. I honestly think we could have scored 100+ had we wanted to. We should never schedule teams THIS bad again.

UF doesn't know what RUTS means.

I agree with you 100%. I was glad to see the back ups getting so much play time. And that the cupcakes knew what they were getting into when they agreed to the game.
Has it been stated if the margin of win will have any weight to the selection committees choices ?

There is no such a thing as "running up the score." Anyone who believes there is should advocate for a 30 point rule where games are called.

Those little schools get a nice big check to be a practice team. Backups need some real game time to get reps to improve. The little schools know what they are getting to when they agree to come play.

I think we were actually trying to do bad in the second half. We played everyone we had and couldn't stop scoring. Our fault for scheduling lamar really.

I understand that the SEC teams weren't digging into their bag of tricks and going "balls to the wall" with the plays. But there hasn't been very many Saturdays where (nearly) all SEC teams had shut outs with scores this high.
Do you think this was this a collectively conscious decision made by the coaches/ higher powers because of the new playoff system? Or merely a coincidence?

TAMU could have scored 173 if they wanted to. Who the F is Lamar? A HS team? Im not sure you get better in those kinds of games.
I know Auburn scored 59 but looked sloppy as hell doing it.

Yeah, Sumlin dug to the very bottom of the barrel to keep from scoring, but you can't tell guys who will likely never see the field during SEC play to NOT try. When you're getting lit up by Dolezal and Neiderhofer, you just need to play better. Didn't watch all of the other games, but I'm sure that everyone was as kind to their cupcake teams as they possibly could have been.

The OBC said it best in his UF days
"It ain't my job to stop my offense it is the other teams defense"

I understand that the smaller schools know what they're getting into and that they get rewarded handsomely for their participation. And I'm not condemning the SEC for their showing of dominance. I'm just curious of the rants thoughts on the doing of such. And if the rant believed there was a reason behind it (1st year of the playoff/ selection committee?)

I am by no means in favor of a 30 point rule, and I only used "running up the score" for lack a a better term.

Arkansas and A&M should be happy. Texas Tech and Nebraska both played teams from the same conference (the Soutland) as Nichols, Lamar, and Sam Houston. They both needed some luck to win their games. Sometimes a cupcake doesn't play like a cupcake.

You're not putting backups in a game, who may not play again, to run two yards and take a knee. You put them in to get experience. Later in the year, you keep starters in as long as possible score as many points as possible because style points do matter in the polls.

Sometimes you roll your 2nd and 3rd string out there, they're excited to be on the field, and they just keep scoring. That's how it was last week against UT Martin for us.
And despite having been on the bad end of RUTS, I'm of the school of thought of if you don't want to get run off the field then you have to field a team to stop it.
