Having hockey style line changes last week, not demanding our best defensive players be on the field at the same time, and rotating Dak and Damian every other series are just a few recent examples.

Eta: the last two years it was feeding it to Perkins on 3rd and short. I'm quite confident that Hollaway will be our short yardage back this year.

I was so angry about everything above, I almost forgot to be mad about our kicking game.

Seriously. He over thinks things WAY too much.

I don't understand this 1A 1B bullshite. When we play real teams we better have the best players on the field at the same time. It almost bit us in the arse today.

Agreed with everything you posted.

Rotating Williams in is a momentum killer.

Even if we were in a real game, merlins is conservative as hell. I feel like this year is the year if we are gonna make a move, but merlins doesn't call plays like Mizzou last year.

Time will tell, but today brought me back down to normal state fan life.

Any normal coach would have just let the first teamers cruise to a comfortable lead and then put the subs in. Muffin prefers to ruin momentum and let the other team stick around and build confidence. Ridiculous. Just leave Dak in for the first quarter and we are probably up 21 or 28 to zip.

Damien Williams had a 4.4 QBR. If you want to play Damien some and give him some experience, at least do it with a few of the better players on board and give him a chance. Our depth is pretty good this year, but it isn't good enough to just sit all of the first team at the same time and expect great results.

In the post-game interview, Mullen said that he was rotating players to keep them fresh. I guess he didn't consider the fact that non-productive series on offense keeps the D on the field too much.

Any action that proves to keep the opposing offense on the field more shouldn't be replayed every game. I don't expect it to change at all for next week but if it continues into the LSU game I'll have an aneurysm.

If we left Dak in the whole 1st quarter, I think it would have been a completely different game.

Absolutely... I get wanting to give Damien reps against another team's first unit but why not leave Dak in the entire 1st half ? It's probably ~33-14 (missed XPs) at the half.. Then it's 40-14 midway through the 3rd and Damien can play it out from there... I know this is a Captain Obvious post to yall but the 3 and out where the O ran the same play all 3 downs just shows that Williams needs a lot more time to grow into that offense.

Muffin is going to end up like Moe Green if he keeps on pissing off Vegas.

I am looking at the drive chart and trying to remember everything, but it looks like 9 drives for Dak: 6 TD's, 1 Punt, 1 Int, 1 turn over on downs. Looks like 7 drives and 7 punts for Williams + the knee at the end of the game.

The Int was at the 1 yard line, and Preston turned that into a TD.

Yeah it's not like I was worried if we would win or lose, but I just wish Mullen would do these subs differently.

I like Mullen, cool guy, good talent evaluator, and good ambassador to the program and school, but bad play caller and game manager. He helped build the program back to respectable, but he's also our Achilles' heel and lacks a killer instinct.

All coaches have their flaws. Mullen is a good, maybe even great coach.

I'd be way more concerned about the secondary than the substitutions. I doubt Mullen thought that UAB would pass for 435 yards. One is a fluke, 3 is a problem.
