God every position is weak as hell. Moncrief takes terrible angles, no pass rush, linebackers out of positions, secondary getting burned. This is a Chiz D

I'd like to add, as AU fans we love to cream our panties over the days of a Tubs D, but have some of us forgotten how often his teams never covered the spread?
I'll take the good with the bad. The D will never be 3-2 "good". But on the bright side, we'll never score only 3 points.

Does it really need to be posted during/after every game? Our defense has been varying levels of below average for going on 6 years now.
Our defense is what it is and it's not going to change any time soon. Our recruiting on that side of the ball, specifically the back 7, hasn't been good enough. I don't know why it still surprises people or why they always expect major improvement every year. We have a RB and a WR starting/playing major minutes in our secondary.

Front 7 looked a lot better. Keep Adams inside. We are better when he is there. Whitehead is proving to be a playmaker in the backend but the corner back is a weakness. Ford has looked much better than Moncrief.
We will learn a lot about this D against Kansas State in 2 weeks. Waters scares me with his mobility

Linebackers played well...Cass was all over the field and I could tell Frost took hell this week. He was a lot more active than last week. Big thing missing is a dominant outside pass rush. CL, please hurry back...

Yea, our game has changed. Our expectations should change a little too. We are giving up a few more points but we are scoring a lot more points..
Its growing on me but I wish we could shut someone out. LOL

Told my brother our pass rush was going to suffer with CL out. He thought we'd be just fine. After tonight he finally admitted that I was right and that he can't wait to get Lawson back.

We are missing pass rush and our DBs are just awful. Their play recognition ability is just garbage. I feel like that is why we are so good in the redzone, cutting down on options makes our defense play to their athletic ability

You guys do realize we're about 100 yards under our last season average? And a TD below our scoring average?
Sounds like we played a sloppy game against an outmanned opponent, with plenty of mistakes and uninspired performances from our veterans - and still won by 46.
